Karen Fisher x Reader

Y/n's POV

Sitting in my classroom marking essays I look up when someone knocks on the door and motion my ex-husband in with a raised eyebrow. Smiling when my six year old runs over to me I pull her up into my lap and look at Tony with a raised eyebrow making him sigh. "I'm sorry but I'm needed at work and I couldn't get hold of either of our parents y/n. If I could have you know that I wouldn't have dropped her off here." He rushes out and I nod with a small smile as I run my fingers through Rebecca's hair.

"I get that but why isn't she in school?" I ask him as he sits on one of the desks and he chuckles slightly.

"The entire schools been closed. Apparently a water main burst and has flooded part of the school which as you well knows l means that they have to close the school for the kids safety." He says and I nod in return with a smile as his phone pings making him groan. "Dammit, I need to go but I promise I'll come by after work and I'll bring you your favourite from the Chinese. A little apology for the sudden change of schedule."

"Go on and get to work and I'll see you later." I tell him and he nods as he runs out of the office making me chuckle. "Right misses, let's go see if we can find any ice cream in the canteen then I need you to sit nicely while mummy teaches okay." I say and she nods with a smile as I stand up with her on my hip. Leaving the classroom I start to walk towards the canteen, putting Rebecca down when she wriggles on my hip and she takes my hand happily as she follows me.

"Ah y/n, I was just coming to see you. I was hoping that I could have a word or two about one of your students." Karen says as she approaches us and I smile at her while Rebecca hides behind my legs. "Oh! I didn't realise that you had company." She adds with a raised eyebrow as I rest my hand on Becca's hair.

"I didn't expect to have company either Karen but her schools been closed due to a burst water pipe, her dad had to get to work and he couldn't get hold of either of our parents." I explain and she just smiles as she crouches down to Rebecca's height making her hide behind me more. "Becca, there's nothing to be scared of darling. Karen's really nice I promise." I say softly and slowly she comes out from behind my legs making me chuckle as she keeps a tight hold on my hand.

"You must be the famous Rebecca I've heard so much about." Karen says with a soft smile and I watch as Rebecca slowly steps closer to her with a small smile. "Are you going to help mummy teach her classes today?"

"Mummy said I was to sit nicely." She says with a slight pout and Karen chuckles at that as she reaches out to push a curl out of her face. "Mummy said we'd try have ice cream first though."

"Only if there's some in the canteen." I add making Karen smile as I scoop Becca up before offering my hand out to Karen to help her up and she takes it with a grin. Helping her up I fight the temptation to bite my lip as she steps closer to me with a firm grip on my hand and feel my breath catch as she reaches up to push my hair behind my ear. "Ice cream can wait though if you need to talk about something relating to a student." I say and she smiles at that as she takes her hand back.

"And who says that we can't do that over some ice cream?" She asks with a raised eyebrow making Becca bounce on my side excitedly. "Come on then, let's go get some ice cream and then we can talk in my office while we eat it." She says as she meets my eyes before strutting off ahead of us and I watch her go with a quiet groan before following her to the canteen. I'm so fucked, the end of this school year can't come soon enough and then I can turn in my resignation. I can't keep working with this woman when I want to be so much more than just her colleague. I think to myself as my eyes drop to her backside before snapping out of my daze and follow her with a smile.

"She's pretty mummy." Rebecca says into my ear as she rests her head on my shoulder and I look down at her with a smile.

"She's very pretty isn't she." I whisper back to her before catching up to Karen making my little girl giggle into my shoulder and Karen looks at me with a smile as her hand brushes against mine softly as we walk. "Which student was it that you wanted to talk to me about Karen?" I ask as we walk into the canteen and she shakes her head at me as she moves over to the lunch ladies who quickly hand over three small tubs of ice cream along with plastic spoons. With the ice cream acquired we quickly make our way up to her office where Rebecca quickly makes herself comfortable on Karen's chair while we sit on the sofa together.

"I wanted to speak to you about Denzel Kelly, I was wondering how he's doing in your classes at the moment." Karen says quietly so that Rebecca can't hear us and I sigh as I eat my ice cream. "He's been lashing out in Mr Chalk's class and I've had reports of him not really focusing in other classes."

"Under the circumstances he's been doing pretty well in my class Karen, yes he'll zone out every now and then but I'd expect that with everything that's going on at home." I tell her and she nods with a sigh making me reach out to rest my hand on hers. "How are you coping with everything going on? I know that you have a lot on your plate at the moment."

"I feel like everything's falling apart y/n. Richard's breathing down my neck and watching my every move, one of my best students has an incurable brain tumor and could die at any time and... Jess has been spending more and more time with Aiden and I'm worried that he's going to lead her down a dark path." She says as she plays with my fingers, running her finger over my wedding ring that I really need to take off at some point but for now it's my safety blanket against my feelings for her. "I just feel like everything I know is falling apart and I don't know how to stop it." She admits and I move closer to her as I stroke my thumb over her hand softly making her smile at me as she squeezes my hand softly.

"I wish that I could promise that everything's going to be okay but we both know that I have very little control over what happens next. What I can do though is promise that I'm here if you need someone to talk, no matter what happens I'm going to be here to talk to." I tell her and she rests her head on my shoulder with a smile while I wrap my free arm around her shoulders, stroking her arm as I hold her closer to me. "I'm always going to be here for you and the kids if any of you need or want to talk about anything or just want to escape." I say into her ear and she tightens her hold on me while I look over at Becca who's happily swinging in Karen's chair completely oblivious to what's going on.

"You have no idea how much I appreciate that y/n, you're one of the few people I know that I can actually come to and actually be listened to when I talk to them." She says as she lifts her head to look at me and I smile as I push her hair out of her face as the bell goes making her groan quietly as I start to pull away from her but she stops me. "How would you feel if I were to look after Rebecca for you while you're teaching? That way you can teach like normal and don't have to worry about Rebecca getting under anyone's feet or disrupting the class."

"Are you sure? No offense Karen but she can be a handful at times and I don't want her disturbing-" I start to say but she cuts me off as she leans in and kisses me softly making me gasp before kissing her back. Feeling her move closer to me I cup the side of her neck while she grips my shouler tightly as the kiss deepens ever so slightly and we both moan when our tongues touch before we're broken out of our daze by the second bell ringing. "Shit, I really need to get back to my class Karen." I tell her with a pant and she nods with a small smile making me squeeze the hand that she's still holding. "Why don't you and the kids come round for dinner tonight and then once they're distracted we can talk about this properly? Because I don't think that it's just me that feels like this."

"I'd love that y/n." She says as she kisses me quickly again before pulling back to fix herself. "You go on to class and I'll keep an eye on Rebecca for you until the end of the day." She tells me and I nod as I get up to fix myself before moving over to kiss Rebecca's head.

"RIght baby, mummy needs to get to class but Karen's offered to look after you for me so that you don't get bored. I need you to be on your best behaviour until I get back okay." I tell her and she nods with a grin making me laugh as I kiss the top of her head before leaving to head back to my classroom where Tom's keeping an eye on everything for me.
