7. Misunderstoon Affections

Damon worries that Elijah likes Stefen more after accidently eaves dropping on a conversation. 

A/N: This oneshot is really short. 

The Salvatore Boarding House was unusually quiet that evening. Damon Salvatore had been distant, his mood sombre and brooding, ever since a fleeting remark he overheard from Elijah Mikaelson. The words had planted a seed of doubt in Damon's mind, one that festered and grew with each passing hour.

As the moon rose in the sky, casting a soft glow across the room, Damon finally broke the silence. "Elijah," he began hesitantly, "I couldn't help but overhear what you said to Stefan earlier. It sounded like you admire him a lot."

Elijah turned to Damon, his brow furrowing with confusion. "Damon, I do hold Stefan in high regard, but it doesn't diminish what I feel for you."

Damon's heart sank, his insecurities getting the best of him. "I just thought... maybe you like him more than me," he admitted, his voice barely above a whisper.

Elijah's eyes filled with understanding, realizing the depth of Damon's hurt. He reached out to gently cup Damon's face. "Damon, my feelings for you are unlike anything I've ever experienced," he confessed, his voice soft and sincere. "Stefan is your brother, and I respect him, but my heart belongs to you."

Damon's eyes met Elijah's, a mixture of relief and vulnerability in his gaze. "I've been a fool, haven't I?"

Elijah smiled, his thumb brushing gently against Damon's cheek. "No, you've simply been human, Damon," he said, his voice filled with tenderness. "We all have moments of doubt and insecurity. But I promise you, my affections are solely yours."

The weight of Damon's insecurity began to lift. Elijah's words were a soothing balm to his wounded heart. He leaned in, capturing Elijah's lips in a gentle kiss, a silent affirmation of the love they shared.

Damon realized that his fears had been unfounded. Elijah's love for him was unwavering and true, and with that knowledge, he found the strength to banish the shadows of doubt that had clouded his mind. Their love, stronger than ever, would weather any storm that came their way.
