"Okay, I thought about it, and there is no way to say it nicely. I have to buy a new couch because your pitiful ass fucked up the springs on this one."

"I'll buy it," I say absently, fixing the ceiling with an analytical gaze.

Every time I wake up, day or night, regardless of the hour or sleeping position, my eyes force themselves on the same place. Initially, I mistook it for a mere blemish, much like a mold stain, but over the past month I've been staying with Yoongi, its shape increased and deepened.

It has a peculiar form, one that carries a particular amount of ambiguity, yet it metamorphoses with the shifting play of light. In the obscurity, those bold strokes take on the likeness of wings, with frayed tendrils akin to feathers, and an oddly long neck.

Like a black, broken swan of sorts.

But during daylight, the wings transform into sturdy legs with no hooves, the feathers become severe cuts upon the canvas of its coat, a neck missing its head, depicting a slaughtered deer. It's all too elusive, but I like it more during the night.

Can't explain why.

Saying that Yoongi's apartment is modest would be an overstatement in itself. The neighborhood he lives in is disreputable, but the rent is as cheap. As cheap as the thin walls separating the apartments.

I became accustomed to the stories of the other tenants as if we were all living together under the same roof. Well, in a way, we truly are.

Those from our floor are either young couples that fight a lot, or lonely old ladies that love to scold you over petty things, especially listening to loud music. However, there is a certain someone who doesn't obey silence - much to the desperation of the grannies.

"You can't buy me a new couch when all your money goes to the lawyer, Kook."

"What's the time?" I ignore his statement and look for my phone.
