Nightmares

Sometime in the middle of the night Alice started stirring and whimpering softly, as a few minutes passed the stirring got more aggressive and the whimpers got louder, almost as if she was in pain, she was in pain, or at least she thought she was anyway

After about 30 minutes she woke up screaming "No!" she had tears in her eyes and she looked like she was threatened with torture when Bucky ran in "Hey, Alice, it's ok, you're ok" he quickly got on the bed and pulled her in for a hug "No- Stop- Please-" she started due to not knowing it was him at the moment "Hey, it's just me ok? You're safe, it was just a nightmare" he whispered softly as to not startle her "Dad?" she leaned her head into his chest "Yea, it's me, I'm here" he kissed her forehead then stroked her hair softly

Eventually she fell back asleep and he just stayed there, stroking her hair as she was sat up against him, head buried into his chest, "You're safe little one" he knew she was asleep but he wanted to whisper it to her just so she can feel safe in her own mind while sleeping, he would give the world to her and it showed in this exact moment

The next morning when Alice woke up Nat was out on a mission so Bucky had made her breakfast and walked in with the plate "Oh, just in time, it's still warm" he smiled then handed her the plate "Thanks" she moved some hair from her face while yawning then took the plate "You're welcome" he smiled softly then sat beside her

After Alice finished eating she laid on the bed and watched Bucky leave with the plate then come back "How 'bout we go down to the creek? I think it would be nice" he smiled "Ok" she got up then got her shoes and jacket on

Alice was sitting with her legs crossed as Bucky was standing there, watching her as he was playing with a pen "Wanna talk about the nightmare?" he asked sitting down "I was in a dark room, watching a woman, she had a baby, talking to a man, and the only light there was a spotlight, on the three of them" she spoke quietly "Mhm" he listened "Them woman said something, I think she said something like 'Raise her strong, and make sure she becomes the best killer I've ever known' then handed the guy the baby, I think he gave her some money in return" her voice started to crack

"Then when I tried to speak nothing came out, and the woman sh-she didn't move one step, she just turned towards me, slowly, muttering something" she looked down "Take your time, it's ok" he encouraged "When she got to me she told me I was weak and didn't turn out like she wanted me to be, and again, I tried to uhm- I tr-tried to speak but nothing came out, all I could do was scream- she started cho-choking me" she had tears in her eyes "Shh, it's ok you don't have to finish" he started playing with her hair

"Then the guy came back with the baby, and the baby grew 5 years old and the guy changed, that happened 2 times, then she started to get tortured while a man watched, it was the same man from before" she had tears in her eyes "Except this time the man changed instead, and then I woke up" she looked at him "Well, I think you might've been seeing the memories in your early years, just in 3rd person" he rubbed her arm "Maybe" she sighed then leaned her head in his lap "The nightmares will go away eventually" he assured her
