"Ah Charlie! Don't you look just lovely," said Sevanthian walking over to Charlie who was chatting with her father.
"Oh, hi Sev! Yeah, thanks," Charlie replied.
"Alastor made that dress especially for her. Isn't that generous of him?" said Lucifer putting an arm on Charlie's shoulder. Charlie swallowed hard and started to sweat.
"Yes, isn't he just the sweetest?" Sev said angrily through his fake smile. Charlie gave an awkward chuckled and spoke up.
"Anyways, I'm starving! I think I'm gonna get something to eat," Charlie said quickly walking away, trying to escape the discussion.
"I'll come with you Charlie," said Sevanthian following behind her.
"Oh no Sev, you don't have-" Sevanthian grabbed Charlie's arm before she could say another word.
"Oh, I insist," said Sevanthian in a demanding tone of voice. He forcefully tugged Charlie over to a table of small appetizers. Lucifer just shrugged it off. "So Charlie? Have you been talking to Alastor recently?" Sevanthian demanded.
"No Sevanthian, I promise, I haven't talked to him at all!" Charlie said shaking with fear. "How about we stop talking about Alastor, and start talking about you? How are things in your territory?" said Charlie trying to change the subject. Sevanthian sighed and decided to put that subject off to the side for now, but he would get back to it later. Alastor watched from afar as the two were talking. He was about to intervene until-
"Alastor? What a coincidence!" That voice. That old TV salesman voice. No, it couldn't be. It couldn't possibly be! He turned to see a demon with a TV screen for a face wearing a suit and a small hat with a Wi-Fi signal on it. "Helsa told me you were here, but I didn't want to believe her!" The demon put his arm on Alastor's shoulder. "How's my arch nemesis doing?"
"Vox," grumbled Alastor, removing Vox's arm from his shoulder. "I am quite busy right now, so why don't you-"
"Busy with what? Going after some princess?" Vox teased. "Gee Al, I've never figured you were the romantic type. I always thought you sucked at women!" Vox laughed. Alastor grumbled under his breath. This would take a while. Helsa watched the two overlords from a distance, giving an evil smile. All throughout the party, Sevanthian talked with Charlie, making sure that the Radio Demon was no where in sight. Charlie attempted to leave Sevanthian, but he was very persistent on keeping an eye on her. Alastor tried to get to Charlie, but kept getting interrupted by Vox. It was all going according to plan. Without an annoying Radio Demon in his way, Sev would pop the question, and soon all of Hell would belong to the Von Eldritch's.
"Dear guests, it is finally time for the dance of the bride and groom," said one of the guards. Everyone in the room applauded. A spotlight shined on Lucifer and Lilith as they began to dance around the ballroom as soft violin music was playing. As they watched, Sev whispered to Charlie.
"Charlotte, remember that gift I mentioned a few days ago?"
"Yeah, I remember," Charlie whispered back.
"I think you'll be thrilled to see it. After our dance, I'll show it to you."
"Oh, I can't wait to see it." Charlie then seized the opportunity. "Do you mind if I head to the restroom real quick? I think I had too much uh... caviar."
"Alright, make it quick," Sev said. Charlie nodded and walked out of the ballroom. Alastor watched as she left the ballroom and excused himself as well. Charlie rested her back against a wall in the hallway. Finally, she could have a little privacy. She decided to take a breather before heading back inside, and maybe try to find Alastor while she was at it. Then, after a few seconds, she saw Alastor make his way out of the ballroom. Charlie breathed a sigh of relief. Finally she could talk to Alastor in privacy without Sevanthian watching her like a hawk. She raced over to him and gave him a hug.
"Alastor, thank goodness! I'm so sorry I haven't talked to you, Sevanthian was on my ass the entire time," Charlie apologized.
"It's alright dear, I've would've gotten to you sooner if my arch nemesis, Vox, wasn't always distracting me."
"I'm just glad that I finally get a chance to talk to you," said Charlie with a smile.
"Yes, me too darling, because there's something important that I've been meaning to talk to you about," said Alastor. It was finally time, he had to tell her before it was too late.
"What is it Alastor?" Charlie asked. Alastor took a deep breath. Was he really about to do this?
"Charlie, ever since we first met, I've been fascinated with you. You showed compassion and gave me a second chance when no one else would even think to do so. You defended me and even was willing to stand up to your own parents for me. You put your life at risk to save mine. You did so much for me, I just can't thank you enough." Charlie blushed.
"Thank you Alastor," Charlie said flattered. Alastor took Charlie's hand in his own.
"You are the best thing that's ever happened to me in my entire afterlife. You make me want to be a better demon and..." Alastor hesitated for a second.
"And what Alastor?" Charlie asked.
"And... I love you." Charlie turned red in the face at Alastor's statement.
"You... you love me?" Charlie said surprised.
"I do darling," said Alastor with a smile. Not his usual wide creepy smile, but a real, genuine one. Charlie's heart fluttered in her chest.
"Alastor, I'm so happy you feel that way. I really love you too Alastor," Charlie said. Alastor blushed. The two of them gazed into each others eyes for what seemed like an eternity. Charlie then broke the silence. "So, are we gonna kiss or..." Alastor turned red as a tomato and snapped out of his trance.
"A kiss?! Darling I- well you see- It's just that I- I've never kissed before," Alastor stuttered. Charlie giggled and pulled Alastor down to meet her gaze.
"Don't worry Alastor. It's okay. Just relax," said Charlie. Charlie then proceeded to kiss Alastor on the cheek. "We'll get to actual kissing soon, but for now, is this better?" Alastor was silent for a moment, then he gave a small chuckle. He then kissed Charlie on the cheek as well.
"Yes, that'll do for now darling." They then gave each other a hug. "We should keep this between us for now, don't you think?"
"Yeah, you're probably right. We certainly wouldn't want my parents finding out or... Sevanthian finding out. Wait a minute, I just remembered something!" Charlie quickly pulled away from the hug. "Sev had something to give me after our dance! I should probably get back inside." She quickly rushed to the door. "You should probably go in after I do, I wouldn't want Sevanthian to find us together."
"Right darling, I'll wait here," said Alastor. Charlie took a deep breath and walked back inside the ballroom.
