Sunday afternoon.
Matt isn't answering any of her texts.
They aren't even going through.
That stupid 'failed to send' message, coloured in red, burning into her pupils as she stares at the eighth text that has refused to reach the other end of the cellular device, buried in a flood of attempted mobile calls that have all gone straight to voice mail.
See, normally, she wouldn't be spamming the man this much, she'd give it another half an hour or so before calling him again - this time was different. After the first facetime choosing to fail, the option of 'call again' or 'message' illuminating her face, she chose the 'message' option, sending him a quick 'let me know when ure free to call :)' message. It was all going fine, she didn't even think twice about the failed facetime, brushing it off as maybe he was on the phone with someone else; she wasn't worried until she noticed none of her messages were sending to him, not on imessage, not on whatsapp, not on anything linked to his phone number.
A new irrational fear of 'HAS MATT STURNIOLO BLOCKED MY NUMBER?' had found its way into disturbing and dispersing any other possible thought that even attempted to weave itself into her brain. It was all about Matt.
Matt. Matt. Matt.
Was he ghosting her again? Did something happen? Is his phone dead?
The last question made her send a text to both Nick and Chris, ask them if Matt was okay, ask them to get Matt to charge his phone. Those messages haven't sent either, and now her worries have been maximised. She doesn't want to worry, but she can't help but feel a string of fear wrap itself around her lungs and heart, slowly tightening its grip, slowly making her breaths shorten, slowly making her feel light headed.
It's okay.
They're fine.
Totally.
But why are no messages getting through to any of them?
Either they've all died in some kind of crash and their phones have broken, or they're somewhere with no service, but even that worries her. Surely, Matt would tell her if he was going somewhere that could lead to no replies, he tells her where he's going no matter where. Kid could be going to the kitchen and send a 'hold on might not reply for a sec going to get a snack from the kitchen' whilst their texting, so, he had to have thought to text her if there was going to be no service and he knew it.
