Broken Hearts and Wish Bones

BAKUGO'S POV

"Daddy?" Hanako asked while knocking on my office door. I wasn't working, so the door wasn't shut. "What are you doing?"

"I'm planning a vacation," I said.

She walked over to me with a frown. "Where are you going?" she asked.

"We're going camping when you guys come back from Grandma and Grandpa's this summer." She climbed into my lap.

"We get to go?" She sounded almost scared.

I kissed the top of her head. "Is that okay?"

"Dad said kids don't go on vacation. We go to see Grandma and Grandpa." I felt my skin grow hot.

"Well, you guys get to. Midoriya and I are taking you on a lot of vacations this summer."

She perked up. "Really? Midoriya's coming too?"

"Daddy wants to give you guys the best summer he can, but he can't take that much vacation time, so I'm still going to have to work sometimes. He's coming with us to help watch after you guys, so I can still work. Is that okay?" She nodded.

"Where are we going camping?" she asked, looking at my computer since that's what I had pulled up.

"I think we're going camping near grandma. Kimi isn't going with us since we'd be tent camping."

"We get to sleep in a tent?" Her voice went up two octaves. "Like a real camp?" she asked.

I nodded. "After that, I think we're going to the beach for a while."

"Will Kimi be with us for the beach?"

"Yes. She'll be with us for everything else. We'll all be together." I kissed her head again. I wish I'd taken them on vacation sooner. I wish I had spent more time with my family instead of working.

"Where else are we going?" I almost told her about Disney World, but I wanted that to be a surprise for the kids. "So far, we know we're going camping, to the beach for a week, to an amusement park, and Midoriya might choose a few places."

"We're doing all of that this summer?"

"That's the plan. I want you guys to have a great summer, and I want to be with you for all of it."

She fell silent for a moment. "Dad? Are you doing this to keep us distracted from Dad leaving?"

I sighed. I don't want to lie to my kids. "Yes and no. I don't want you guys to dwell on your dad leaving. But I really do want to spend time with you guys. I worked so much before that I missed a lot of time with all of you. I don't want to do that anymore."

"What you do in?" Masao said from the doorway.

"We were talking about our summer vacations," Hanako said happily.

"Vatacon?" I shook my head. Not even close. "We go?"

"We will," I said. "We'll all sit down sometime this week and talk about where we want to go. For now, where's everyone else?"

"Kenzo on mat. Kimi with Midoiya in kiten." Masao's speech has gotten a little better since Midoriya started correcting him, but it's barely an improvement.

"Hanako, can you go grab your brother? Tell him we're having a family night. Masao, can you go with her and help clean up the toys?" Hanako hopped off my lap before they both left the room.

I shut my laptop and walked into the kitchen, where Midoriya was shuffling through the fridge with Kimi on his hip. "Hey." He jumped when he heard my voice.
