Basil was slowly losing consciousness once again. He felt so helpless and weak. He could only call out Ash's name but it was barely a whisper. Ash was still unmoving, blood continuously being drained from his body. Basil then noticed something peculiar happening. The blood contained in the bags was decreasing, as if Ash was reabsorbing it back into his body.

Basil watched in awe as a subtle glow emitted from Ash's body. All of a sudden, all the tubes attached to his body were pulled away in one swift motion. Ash's eyes opened, revealing his pure white eyes. Basil just sat there shocked as Ash stood up and slowly approached him. In a snap, all his chains turned into dust, releasing him from his constraints.

With the nail on his thumb, Ash dug into his wrist deeply until it cut the skin. He brought his wrist up to Basil's mouth and the latter lost all control. He sucked on Ash's blood hungrily. Basil felt different this time. He could feel himself getting stronger as if he was invincible. He didn't stop until he felt more than satiated. Basil pulled away from Ash's wrist, and as soon as he did, Ash fell on top of him.

Basil wasted no time and took Ash into his arms. He doesn't know where they are going or how they will escape, all he knows is that he needs to get Ash out and away from his father. There were no windows inside the room they were in. Basil had no choice but to go into the hall and find their way out there. Or he could just break the wall. So that he did.

With one deep breath, Basil put all his strength and punched the wall, effectively breaking the stones into pieces. Basil couldn't believe it. He looked at his hand and back at the hole that he had just torn, but he had no time to grasp his newfound strength.

The sky was dark and fog was blocking their vision, but then, Basil started to see through the darkness. He looked down and saw that they were seven floors high from the ground. Basil didn't think and leaped with his eyes pressed closed. He hit the ground with a perfect landing. As soon as he felt the ground beneath him, he ran.

Unbeknownst to him, his father was silently watching through the hole they had escaped in. With a smirk, he summoned a crow and ordered it to follow the two men.

Basil simply didn't stop running through the woods. He ran and ran until he could no longer sense his father. He wanted to keep going but he knew Ash needed to rest. Basil found a cave tucked inside a small cliff. At this point, Basil's strength started to fade. He entered the cave and slowly laid Ash down on the ground.

He knew they simply couldn't stay here but they needed the rest. He wrapped his body around Ash's to keep him warm as the cold slowly infiltrated the inside of the cave. He wants to get dry wood and start a fire but he fears that he will lose Ash the moment he is out of his sight. Ash subconsciously snuggled up to him. Basil had no idea when the sun would rise once again.

Exhaustion hit Basil like a truck. His consciousness slipped away from him in mere seconds. Rustling sounds from just outside of the cave woke Ash up from his sleep. His eyes were still glowing white. An orb of fire suddenly appeared at the center of the cave, keeping the cold out as an illusion slowly covered the mouth of the cave, shielding them from the eyes of the outside world.

For a few moments, they get some peace. Something that has evaded them like the plague for the past few days. Ash once again fell back asleep for he felt safe. He was not sensing any danger nearby or maybe he was just incapable of it. Ash trusted his gut and felt secure enough to fall asleep.

Basil woke up a few hours later as his body was completely soaked in sweat. His already uncomfortable clothes stick to him like glue. He opened his eyes and saw the cave dimly lit with the orb. He checked on Ash who was fast asleep beside him. Under them was a pile of dry leaves. Basil doesn't remember having those leaves under them when they laid.

"Go back to sleep," Ash muttered in his sleep.

"We have to leave Ash, we need to get away from here as fast as possible," Basil said as he got up.

His words were just met with an annoyed grunt and Ash turned to face away from him.

"Did you do this?" Basil asked, pointing over at the orb and Ash just hummed in response.

Basil's mouth hung open in awe. There was more to Ash's powers than he could ever imagine. He fears that more and more vampires are going to come after them in hopes that they can use Ash as their weapon.

"I can hear you thinking," Ash muttered as he sat up. "We're safe here, I promise."

"How did you do this?" Basil asked.

"What? That thingy?" he asked, pointing over at the orb. "I don't know. I just needed some warmth."

"Well, it's more than warm now," he said as he wiped off the sweat on his forehead.

"Sorry," Ash meekly apologized, and with a snap of his fingers, the orb shrunk, allowing the heat to subside.

"They're going to see us here."

"They won't, I promise," Ash assured. "Your father saw us when we escaped."

"What?!" Basil said in shock as his head whipped towards Ash. "What do you mean? You were unconscious."

"My body was. I don't know how to explain but I saw everything. I was seeing everything even though I was unconscious. He's not coming for us."

"Who's not coming for us?" Basil asked.

"Your father. He's not going to after us anymore. He already got what he wanted. He didn't need all that blood from me. He just wanted to see what I could do," Ash explained.

"How do you know all of this?" he asked.

"I just do," Ash replied with a shrug. "His whole spiel was a lie. The Society is more than capable of destroying themselves on their own."

Basil just sat there astounded. He couldn't help but trust Ash's words.

"They're killing each other now, I can sense it," Ash sighed. "Your father may no longer come after us but the rest will. They are scared of me and what I can do."

"What can you do?"

"I don't know," Ash shrugged.

Ash was more calm than he was over these past few days. He seemed more annoyed than tired. Basil didn't know what to do. he doesn't have any contact with his familiars. He doesn't know who's going to be coming after them now nor what they will do.

"I'm hungry," Ash muttered. "I want some cheeseburger."

Basil couldn't help but chuckle at Ash.

"What, you can't conjure out a cheeseburger like you did with that orb?" Basil teased.

Ash pouted. "I wish I could."

Ash then stood up from the ground and the orb instantly disappeared.

"Do you think I can teleport?" Ash asked.

"Why are you asking me?" Basil chuckled as he stood up from the floor. "Maybe if you give me some of your blood again then we can get to a fast food place as fast as possible."

"No, I am too hungry for that. Let's just walk," Ash grumbled.

The two walked out of the cave and they were greeted by the harsh light of the sun. As they walked further from the cave, Basil looked back and saw that the opening of the cave was nowhere to be seen. Ash was walking calmly in front of him but Basil kept alert. Despite all the trees surrounding them, they could still be easily spotted by the others in broad daylight.

"That was some show you put back there."
