Chapter 26

The week of spring break. No school for Devin all week so Dylan will be taking him to the center with him everyday.

Dylan thought that a morning jog would be perfect for them. He need this time of bonding to try and have a serious conversation with him.

"How is school going."

"Good," Devin gave the short reply.

"Are your grades good? Any problems with teachers? Is someone bullying you? Are things going good with your girlfriend? Did you have a fight with one of your friends?"

Devin gave small head nods and shakes to each of his questions. This isn't like him to be so quiet. It seems like he's only looking at him out of respect to listen to him, but not because he wants to. He seems so distant.

"Devin will you talk to me already about what's on your mind. We're brothers, best friends, and much more. I don't care what it is. I just want to know." He offered him a small smile of encouragement.

He sighed and looked to the sky. "In do time," he mumbled. "For now I am back to normal and doing fine. That is all that is important. Right?" He looked at him with sorrow filled eyes.

Dylan slowed down and then came to an abrupt halt. His brother stopped shortly, too. "No it's not all right. You're my baby brother. If something is bothering you, I want to know."

He wiped the sweat from his face with his shirt. When he brought his shirt back down his whole expression was different. His eyes are filled with laughter and his bubbly smile is back. "I love you brother."

"And I love you too. We are not changing the subject, though," he signed sternly.

"Yes we are," he laughed. "There is nothing better to talk about than our brotherhood and how much we love each other."

"You told me that you would tell me what was bothering you when the moment is right."

"The time isn't right yet."

"It's 5 a.m. in the morning. It is just me and you here right now. It seems like the right moment to me."

Devin ruffled his hair playfully. "Dyl pickle. Dylly nilly willy."

Dylan ducked and tried to suppress a smile but failed. "Can you ever just be serious for once."

"Not now," he admitted. "One day when I'm ready again I will."

"And when ever that day is, I just want you to know that I will be there. Don't hesitate to come to me," he finally gave in to dropping the subject.

"All I need is one thing from you for," Devin sobered up.

"What?"

"To not give up on me."

"What do you mean," he signed clearly confused.

"I overheard you talking to Mom," Devin sighed. "I know you talked to her about me moving home once the school year ends. We've had this summer planned out for four years. We have all these reservations, you've spent thousands of dollars. I don't want to miss it."

He's talking about all the arrangements made for the Olympics. "I didn't mean anything I said. It was a moment of anger that I regret. You won't miss anything."

"Really! So you're not giving up on me," he cheesed.

Dylan laughed. "No. The Olympic experience would not be as good for me without you there."
