Chapter 3

"What are all these people doing here already," Liana asked when she arrived to work.

Today she was looking ten times better. She braided her hair last night and took it down this morning. Now her hair is beautiful and wavy.

She'd also caught a sale on some blue shirts that fit her perfectly. They were on the deal, bye one get one free. She got four shirts for only $30.

She feels way more comfortable today and it is showing in her smile.

Chelsea closed the door behind her since it was not yet time to open.

"That's right I forgot to tell you something yesterday. There will be swim meets all day today for the high school students in the area. It's an exciting time for them since a lot of college scouts will be attending."

"Things will be different around here today then."

"Yes. Many of the people coming here will not be members. They'll be the people here to watch and support the athletes. There's a sheet of paper that we have to carry around. It's a list of the high schools and which swimming area they'll be in. Many people will come in ask about that and we have to show them where to go and answer all of their questions. So get drink a lot of water because you're about to be doing a lot of talking."

Liana went into the check in room and grabbed some breakfast.

Chelsea walked in on her stuffing her face. She burst out laughing.

"Don't judge me," she laughed.

"Hurry up with that food. We need to get the towels ready. We need some in each of the exercise rooms, near all of the pools, and some at the front desk. When we open we won't have time to do any of that. We will be to busy."

Liana clocked in before rushing up the stairs after her. "So will we be working the front desk today?"

"No my Dad has it covered. We'll be walking around making sure everything is in order."

"How many teams will be here?"

"A bunch. This thing is going to be all day and maybe through the night. Are you okay with staying some extra hours."

"That would be fine with me." She's in no big rush to getting back to her car for the night.

Dylan woke his little brother up bright and early the next morning. He has a swim meet today.

"Ten more minutes please."

He snatched the covers off of Devin. There is no ten more minutes in his house. You get up on time. Grind now, sleep later.

Devin got really mad. He started kicking and punching the air making loud noises of frustration. He was going to give himself a headache.

He finally calmed down. "Okay I'm up. Can you leave my room now?"

He wasn't leaving until he saw him actually get out of the bed and into the shower.

Devin huffed and rolled out of bed. He went to his dresser to get some underwear.

"Why do I have to get up this early. It's like five in the morning. The meet isn't until nine."

Dylan simply pointed at the poster he hung up above his brothers bed. It had pictures of internationally known swimmers who have participated in the Olympics. Beside their bodies was some encouraging words such as determination, hard work pays off, etc..

Dylan is now a paid athlete who aspires to be more. Devin wants to follow in his footsteps.

He moved to this small town in order to get closer to his new training center last year around this time. His little brother followed him out. He wants to be just like him.
