Kanimozhi

I wanted a baby of ours. I know my career is important as well but I could pursue it anytime. It would take around another three to four years for me to complete my Msc and pack a job, and at that point, my mama would turn forty...

Bringing a baby into the world at such a delayed period wouldn't let my mama spend most of his active years with our child. I want my mama to expend as much time as he can with our baby before he hits his old age.

The meager thought of having to see him age quicker and perish brings tears to my eyes and unexplainable pain to my whole being. I will just die with him If he ever leaves me. I don't possess the strength to live without him.

"Ouch," I smile as my babies kick within my womb. Yes, babies. They are twins and I'm excited to behold them with my eyes and hold them in my hands.

And I'm even more curious to see the happiness that would radiate off my mama when our babies come out into the world.

At present, mama is driving me to the library inauguration ceremony. The establishment took years to be constructed and I'm delighted to see the result of it!

"You okay?" I nod towards him. "They are kicking me," I say, placing my hands atop my bulged stomach.

"They seem very naughty, just like you," he comments, resting one of his hands against my hand that lays on my stomach before quickly retracting it to grip the steering wheel.

"I wasn't naughty. I was a good and obedient girl," He stifles his smile at my words and I enter a trance upon watching his face.

A few white strands have grown amidst the hair above his ear and those were one of his beautiful features. I absolutely love them on him and he doesn't hide it or get insecure now. He was so uplifted because of my pregnancy that he could care less about anything other than me now.

Once the car comes to a smooth halt, mama speaks to me hurriedly, "Stay put, I will help," he swiftly reaches to my side and opens the car door, then carefully assists me in hopping out of the car.

The saree I've worn gets a little misplaced and Mama helps me adjust it. We were standing in the parking lot, located to the side of the huge library and I gape as my eyes take in its elegant self.

As he said so, the Indian architectures were imprinted on the exterior of the callous appearance of the library. It looks like a palace from the outside!

Numerous people have occupied the forefront of the library along with the ones from media. There were a few journalists and cameramen as well.

It's too crowded.

Mama stands from the kneeling position after correcting my saree pleats and closes my parted lips using his fingers. "Mama...it's wonderful," he smiles at my compliment. "How do we get in? There are so many people in the front," I say apprehensively while Mama contacts someone.

Sliding the phone in his pocket, he stretches his hand over my shoulder and grips me to his side, protectively.

"We can go now," as he mutters that, the people who have gathered at the entrance are divided to the sides by the bodyguards. I stay alert as mama walks us to the front of library.

Dhruv, mama's friend came behind us with his better half and I smiled at both of them who mirrored it.

As we climb the stairs of the library and approach the closed main door, I frown at my mama. "Who is opening this?" I ask, pointing at the ribbon that's tied horizontally on the door.

"You, of course," My eyes expand at his response. "Why mama? You could have called any writers or celebrities or any famous people. Besides, what will Dhruv and his spouse will think If I cut the ribbon!?" I stress, slightly pinching Mama's arm.

"They are okay with you opening the library Mozhi. And why would I even consider bringing celebrities?" He nonchalantly asks and we cease in front of the main door.

A person handles scissors to my mama and he forwards it to me, urging me with his expression to accept it. I look next to me and Dhruv's wife mouths, "Go ahead,"

"Do not hesitate Mozhi ma," I tentatively receive the scissors from him. "There's no one more divine than you at the moment to do this honor. You bear three souls in you Mozhi, including yours," his words convince my unsettling thoughts and I give him a small smile before using the scissors to chop the ribbon off.

Claps were heard as soon as I did that and Mama lent me the lock of the door and I gleefully unlocked the same.

Once the heavy door was pushed open by Mama and Dhruv, I blink at the majestic interior of the library. People followed through behind me as Parthi mama guides me further inside the library.

The nostalgic smell of the books, the vibe of the spectacular historical architecture painted everywhere, and the stairs that arched through each floor in different shapes had my eyes glimmer in awe.

"Mama, If you let me, I will stay here forever," I wonder aloud while Mama chuckles.

"Come here, I've to show you something," he pulls at my wrist gently and we enter the lift, which leads us to the 3rd floor.

Sauntering out of the elevator, mama leads me through a set of books that had some rather questionable captions. Wait? Is this the mature session?

"Here it is," mama retrieves a book from the middle shelf and my eyes go wide upon seeing the title. It's a translated version of Kamasutra in Tamil.

I didn't know what to say.

"If you hadn't rushed to get pregnant, we could have conducted our pre-planned marriage and could have even tried every position," I hit my Mama's hand and flush, burying my head in his chest.

"But I've no complaints though, we are going to have two kids!" He says it so enthusiastically and I swear, I have never seen him being this happier.

Before our marriage, when I told so that I could make him happy from within, this is what I meant.
