This story is genuinely one of the best military science fiction stories I've read on this platform. Especially when it comes to the protagonist Jason, who is so well-written and balanced that his story is lifelike. The amount of detail that went into the technical aspects of the world is astounding and makes it obvious that the author did the proper research and took the time to build the world and the story that happens in it. I did not find anything I could clearly point out as a flaw, and thoroughly enjoyed the entire process of reading it.

This story is amazingly written. It has a light-hearted and fun feeling to it. And the world-building is done quite well. All the information isn't given all at once, rather we learn it as we are introduced to new things. I loved seeing humans from the perspective of mermaids rather than the opposite. Overall, it was quite an ingenious story.

This is a very classic dystopian society. But I love the fact that Sky chose to fight the Ranger rather than being destined or forced to fight it. It's a unique twist. The way the characters' emotions are portrayed really well and seeing Sky's relationship with his mother was quite interesting. However, There were some grammatical errors throughout the book.
