AN: I had a lovely person request an angst imagine where Reader gets injured during the events of RE4R and tries to hide her wounds until it's nearly too late.

I also added a cute kiss at the end, but maybe not in the way you think...

As soon as the last golden statue head is placed, the secret door begins to slide down, the stone groaning as Ashley and I watch in awe, it's like something from a Bond movie. Ashley frowns, turning back to the stairs before she gasps and steps back, walking into me. I steady her as she whimpers in fear, pointing at the approaching enemies.

"Leon, the stairs!" She calls out as I push her behind me, I stand in front of her as I grab my gun and shoot the closest one, but I soon realise that Leon might need my help. "Save him!" Ashley cries to me, shoving me forwards as she continues to back up until she's pressed against the wall. In a split second decision I nod and run to Leon's side, but unexpectedly golden bars rise from the floor, trapping me with Leon whilst the enemies close in on Ashley.

"Run! Now!" Leon shouts as I fire at the people trying to grab at Ashley, hopefully giving her more time. She disappears from view, but the few seconds I spent watching her dash to safety cost me. As Leon begins fighting his own attackers, three have managed to get close to me. Flaming arrows fly past, grazing my arm and making me drop my gun. Cursing under my breath I duck out of the way just as an axe swings for my head, so I grab my knife and push my legs upwards, shoving it through one's throat. The other two waste no time grabbing at me, pulling me away from their dead comrade. I throw out my elbow, hitting one in the cheek, but the final one is sneaky, as I'm turned away from him he uses the opportunity to shove a knife into my ribs. I cry out, gritting my teeth as I stumble back and roll across the floor despite the pain it causes me. I grab my gun, then fire two bullets hitting their forwards with perfect accuracy. Meanwhile, Leon's holding a body hostage as arrows fly at him, with a momentary glance at me I nod and aim at the culprit, taking him down before pain overtakes me.

I almost fall to my knees, gasping since I can't quite get my breath, but Leon must assume it's from the fight. "We can't rest, we need to go get her back." He murmurs, placing a warm hand on my back. I nod, clearing my throat as I force myself to stand straight, feeling more blood rush out of my wound. I pull a golden key from one of the bodies, passing it to Leon so he can unlock the cage.

"You go ahead, I just need a few minutes. Trust me, I'm fine." I smile. Leon's eyes linger on me for a second, but when his head keeps swiveling to the doorway he nods and rushes to the door, unlocking it with a click until he stops with his back to me.

"Be safe." He softly says, then he disappears from the room. Finally I can relax, so I use the bars as support as I bend down, biting my lip to hold back a scream as I tear off some rags from one of the bodies then wrap it around my middle, staunching the blood for a while. I zip up my jacket, hiding any signs of injury to Leon, then with a shaky breath I follow after Leon.

We meet not long after, in some kind of ballroom filled with muted bugs. We make our way around the castle, fighting more monsters and venturing from once place to another, still not finding Ashley. I do well to hide my injury at first, holding my breath as I fight helps, but when the makeshift bandages loosen and the blood begins to seep again, I feel myself slow down, getting unsteady on my feet as Leon takes the lead. Every now and then he'll ask if I'm okay, and I'll blame my sudden impairments on being tired, and thankfully he buys it.

When we finally do find Ashley, who is passed out on a bed in some cell, I'm near to passing out myself. I'm dizzy and can no longer stand on my own, my side throbs as I trail after Leon inside the room, my body sweats until my legs finally give way. Leon turns from Ashley's side, eyes narrowing on me. I slump to the floor, wincing as tears spring to my eyes.

"Fuck." I whisper, swallowing against a scratchy throat as Leon rushes to my side, kneeling down as his hands caress my cheek, down my arms, stopping at my forearms. Gently he pries then away from my middle, revealing the large blot of blood staining my jacket.

"Y/N," Leon whispers, breath catching as he unzips my jacket, then begins to peel off the bandages. "When did this happen?"

"Back at the castle. In that cage." I weakly reply, crying out as Leon lifts my tee exposing the jagged flesh. He curses angrily, shaking his head as his hard eyes meet mine.

"Damn it! Why did you tell me?" He demands, reaching into one of his pockets and pulling out some kind of first aid spray and a fresh roll of bandage. I stare at them, shocked that he's had them this whole time, but I still tell myself that I would've wasted time if I'd let him patch me up earlier.

"Didn't want to stop." I whisper now, head falling back. Leon's shaky hand reaches out, cupping my cheek as his thumb brushes against my burning skin.

"Fucking stup-" He begins but cuts off with a shaky breath, "What makes you think I wouldn't be able to patch you up and still have time to find Ashley?" He asks as he pops off the cap of the first aid  spray. I glare at him, knowing he's trying to lighten the mood.

"You're not superman, and I'm not as important as she is." I reply.

Leon stills, jaw clenching as he points a finger at me. "Don't. Don't say that."

My breath hitches from a whole different reason as Leon's eyes stare into mine, but when a fresh wave of pain causes me to tense up and more blood trickles down, Leon kicks into action. Grabbing my hand he then sprays the freezing air onto the wound, then glues the two broken pieces of skin together. I cry out, squeezing his hand like he wanted as I violently tremble, already feeling the numbness take over, helping the pain go away for a bit.

"I'm sorry. I should've knew something was up. I should have protected you." Leon mumbles as he grabs a piece of the bandage to wipe my sweaty head, his touch gentle and caring.

I frown, grabbing his wrist. "I'm not here to be protected, I'm just as capable as you are. It was just a slip up that cost me, and I'm damn lucky I've got you to help me." I weakly smile, an overbearing sense of fatigue washing over me as Leon sits in front of me, his legs stretching out either side of me as if he's keeping me protected within his space.

"You're definitely a force to be reckoned with," he lets out a low whistle, "still fighting even though you're close to a fatal injury?" He smiles, tucking my hair behind my ear as I laugh softly, eyes closing as my body begins to shut down in order to repair and gain some energy.

"I only did it for you and Ashley." I mumble, darkness closing in. I faintly feel something warm brush against my forehead as I slip away.

The last thing I hear is Leon softly murmur to me "I'd do anything for you too."
