AN: It's my 22nd Birthday today!

This imagine is super self-indulgent and kind of based on my own introverted plans but I figured I might as well post it since I had it written. I imagined RE2R Leon in this one since he's my fave!♡

---------------------------------------------------------

I wake up to the feel of Leon's lips all over my skin. I smile, pulling the blankets further over me until Leon's hands pull me closer, a poor attempt of trying to rouse me. I yawn, slowly opening my eyes to see Leon half sitting up, his head resting on his hand as he watches me. "Good morning birthday girl." He grins, hand reaching out to pass me an envelope. I smile, mumbling a thanks as I sit up and rub my eyes, then I undo the envelope to find the cheesiest birthday card possible, I'm pretty sure it's for kids and not someone of my age- twenty-two. I flip it open, eyes welling up with tears at the cute message Leon wrote for me, then I set it aside, pulling him in for a hug.

"Thank you so much, I love it."

"Anything for you sweetheart, you know I love you. Now, breakfast at home or somewhere else?" Leon asks, leaving the choice to me. When I answer at home he nods, already slipping out of bed to cook me something. In the meantime I begin to get ready for the day, opting for an outfit that makes me feel good. I do my makeup and hair, smiling at my reflection. I can't believe I'm now twenty-two, it seems like only a second ago I was still in my teens. Leon calls me, so I head to the kitchen, seeing that he's laid out numerous pastries and a fresh glass of orange juice. There's also a few wrapped gifts sitting on the table, and a fresh vase of flowers.

"Oh, are these all for me?" I ask surprised. Leon nods, wrapping an arm around my waist as he presses a kiss to my head.

"Yeah, now you've gotta open them." He grins excitedly. I laugh, sitting down to eat and unwrap the gifts. I thank him for every single present, including the new ring, numerous books and chocolates and a few other odd bits. He waves his hand, acting like it's nothing, but it means more to me than he could ever know. We finish up breakfast before Leon takes my hand, pulling me up to hug me. "So birthday girl, what do you wanna do today? There's no limit."

I pinch my lips together, thinking on it. Then an idea pops into my head. "There's that cute antique bookstore down the street, I wouldn't mind grabbing a few new reads?" Leon nods, already grabbing his jacket as I grab my purse, but Leon takes it from my hands, giving me a pointed look.

"It's your birthday, you're not paying for a single thing. Come on, you take care of me all the time and always look out for me, it's the least I can do." I feel a little guilty, but Leon's not having it, so hand in hand we head out of our apartment and into the spring day. The sun shines down on the city as we walk, with Leon guiding me around the hustle and bustle whilst swinging our arms. I'm glad to have him with me, his joyous nature makes me feel young in contrast to the weight of my adult worries. We stop at a small café, grabbing to go cups, before continuing our adventure to the bookstore. As soon as I walk into the small antique store the scent of old pages and dusty shelves fills me with a happiness nothing else, apart from Leon, can bring. I peruse the shelves, fingers tracing along leathery spines and worn hardcovers. I pick up a few books including some Robert Louis Stevenson and an old edition of Jane Eyre, then attempt to take them to the counter, but Leon takes the stack from me and whips out his wallet faster than I can pluck my hidden purse. His eyes twinkle mischievously as he cashier carefully sets the books in a paper bag, smiling when he passes me them.

As we head out Leon wraps an arm around my shoulders. "Anywhere else? Want a new jacket? Some new shoes? A refill of your favourite perfume?"

I shake my head, heart full of gratitude. "No thanks, I really just want to go home and spend the day with you, maybe watching a few movies and doing some reading. I wouldn't mind takeout for dinner- I'll pay. That's really it." I softly reply. Leon watches me for a beat longer, then nods along with my plans.

"As long as you're happy, then that's what we'll do."

As soon as we're home Leon puts on one of my playlists, then does a silly dance as I laugh and put away my new books. I choose one and curl up on the sofa as Leon cuddles with me, grabbing a book of his own. We spend some time reading together, both comfortable in our own worlds, until the hours pass and my eyes blur from the small antique print. I put on a movie, one Leon and I both like, then we watch it until around halfway through my phone pings. The group chat has been busy wishing me a happy birthday;

Claire: Happy Birthday! *She sent a photo of a cupcake* I'm eating this for you!

Chris: Happy Birthday, hope Leon's treating you.

Jill: Happy Birthday, sorry we couldn't make it!

Rebecca: Happy Birthday! I hope it's the best one yet!

I smile at my friends' messages, then reply with thanks until my stomach rumbles. Leon smiles, getting up and disappearing until suddenly the lights go off and he comes in carrying a cake with candles, his voice raspily sings 'happy birthday' as I laugh and blow out the candles. "Thank you, this has seriously been a great day." I say as Leon grabs two forks from his pocket. We devour some cake until sated, then watch another movie, then Leon orders us my favourite takeout insisting he's going to pay, and lock me in the bedroom if I even reach for my purse. I let Leon pay, silently vowing to buy him lunch soon, then we settle back on the sofa, eating and enjoying the peace and happiness between us. Though I didn't go out or have a massive celebration, just being with the one I love surrounded by the things I like is all the party I need.
