First, the rocking and splashing stopped. Then someone broke the seal from the outside.

It was Sister Spider. Everyone was happy to see her.

One by one, we climbed out of the reed, blinking as the daylight hurt us after weeks spent in the dark.

The sky was as pure blue as we'd ever seen it, and I don't think we ever will again.

The other reeds were all there, lying flat on a narrow strip of land surrounded by water.

This is where I found my parents. The reed from the Parrot clan held up well, as did all the others. We hugged for a long time and thanked the Creator.

"Where is this Fourth World that Sotuknang created for us?", some asked.

Some climbed the reeds. They saw no land on the horizon. Only dazzling water in every direction.

Then Sotuknang appeared.

He said: "You haven't reached your destination yet; you must keep traveling. Your inner wisdom will guide you, for your kopavi is open."

Then Sister Spider told us we could open the roof of our reeds for the rest of the journey.

Tomorrow, at dawn, wewill climb onto these rafts and set off on our quest for the New World, asSotuknang, Master of All Ceremony, wishes.
