"Ma'am can you tell me what happened"
I looked at the police who stood outside my house.

" he just came home and was acting weird, so I was gonna go make his breakfast like I do every morning,  but he just went off and tried to fight me, I ran out of the room to get away from him but he caught me and drug me in the living room by the hair then started beating me, so I grabbed the first thing I saw and swung it at him." I shrugged.
The lady wrote some stuff down and looked back at Devin who was now awake and looking pissed as he sat handcuffed in the back of the police car. 

"Has this happened before, in the past " I bit my bottom lip and looked down.

Should I say something about what happened? I mean it shouldn't be any questions what so Ever if I was to put him in jail or not, but no one understood how much power that man had.
  There were so many crooked cops that he knew, and on top of that if I was to turn him in for all the wrong, he'd get out and I would basically be a dead bitch walking. So either way, I still didn't win.

I believe the only way to get away from him involved death... and it would either be me or him.

"Ma'am, you can tell me" she said pulling me from my thoughts. I looked at her, then back at the other police officers.

Sighing I shook my head no, now a days the law is against us all. There was no justice for anyone, especially of my color so I knew for damn sure that this wouldn't go far. I'd probably be dead before sunset.

"Um.. n-no this is the first time" I mumbled looking at him. He didn't even look my way. She looked as if she didn't believe me, but there wasn't much she could really do about it anyway. 

"Look, I'm here to help you. You can trust me... we're all here for your safety "she smiled while putting her hand on my shoulder.

Thats what they want me to think.
  Where's all the Justice then? Police weren't in my favore at the moment, to me they are the ones who's supposed to protect us and who we're supposed to put our faith in. But now, it seems as if they're the enemy. I couldn't trust them... no one could.

"I said no, this is the first time" I shrugged her hand off my shoulder then turned and began to walk away.

"Wait one more question..." I turned back around and raised my eyebrows.

"Do you want to press charges" I thought about it for a second then nodded.
At least that would keep him in there long enough for me to get far away.

August.

I pulled out my key to Tiana house and opened the door. It was quiet, but that wa'nt none new, she lived by ha self in this lah apartment.

"Yo Tee c'mere bae "  I said sitting on the sofa. I heard something fall then footsteps.

"Hol' up baby I'm coming she said from the kitchen. I chuckled to myself. Ha ass know she couldn't cook, ion know why she was in the kitchen cause the fire department said they ain't comin out fa ha  no mo'. 

"H-Hey baby, watchu doin here" she said. I looked ha up and down then licked my lips and stood up.

"I can't come see my girl" she rolled ha eyes and laughed while looking at the time.

"I didn't say you couldn't, it was just a surprise that's all" she shrugged and looked at ha phone again. I raised my eyebrows and looked behind me at the do'.

"Ya going somewhea' "

"Uuh yea I was just going out with Nelly to get some drinks, she was bored" she laughed while grabbing ha purse, I shook my head and grabbed my keys.
