Dylan walks into Nick and Cayden's dorm.

Dylan: Hi baby!

Cayden: Hey you ready for date night?

Dylan: Yes when are you leaving to go home again?

Cayden: Friday my mom and dad are coming here to help me pack up the dorm.

Dylan: My sister is coming Friday to help me pack up my stuff.

Cayden: Can you believe we are already done with our first year of college?

Dylan: No I can't!

Cayden: Can I ask a question?

Dylan: Sure what's up?

Cayden: Have you reached out to your parents?

Dylan: No I don't want they don't want anything to do with me why should I reach out?

Cayden: That's fair sorry for bringing it up I just thought.

Dylan: It's okay babe don't worry about it.

Diner on campus.

Dylan's point of view.

Cayden and I were having lunch at a local diner on campus when I felt my phone vibrate. I checked it and was surprised to see a serious text message from my parents. I started to panic but didn't reply immediately because I didn't want to ruin my date with Cayden. The message read, "Hello Dylan, it's your parents. We want to talk with you about a situation. We're sorry about how we left things before you left for school. We miss you! Love you, Mom and Dad."

After they back to Cayden's dorm they were chilling watching a movie.

Cayden: Hey you alright you have been quiet since lunch.

Dylan: Fine babe I think I am going to head back to my room I have a headache.

Cayden: Okay, I will check on you later.

Dylan: Thanks bye (Pecks his lips)

Texts between Rachel (Dylan's sister) and Dylan.

Dylan: Rach!

Rachel: What's up little brother?

Dylan: Mom and Dad texted me!

Rachel: Oh my god really what did they say?

Dylan: they wanted to talk about the situation and how we left things before I left for school.

Rachel: Bullshit they just want to judge you for your life choices.

Dylan: I kind of want to respond with Fuck you.

Rachel: Do it there is nothing wrong with cutting ties with toxic parents your mental health is more important.

 Dylan: Do I tell Cayden?

Rachel: Up to you he's your boyfriend, not mine!

Dylan: Would you tell Cameron if they reach out?

Rachel: Personally yes, but we are different people, Dylan, you and I, I got out young from our parents and I wish I could have taken you with me when I left I do.

Dylan: Thanks I am gonna go now see you Friday!

Rachel: Okay see you Friday little bro I love you!

Dylan: I love you too sis!

 End of conversation.

Dylan's point of view.

I reached out to my parents and politely requested that they refrain from reaching out again, as I wasn't comfortable discussing the situation. They had previously made it clear that they disapproved of my bisexuality, and I accepted that. I recognized the toxicity in our relationship and decided to distance myself. While I might have considered forgiveness if this were an isolated incident, the reality is that they were emotionally abusive during my upbringing, affecting both myself and Rachel. I prefer not to delve into the details, but their history of toxicity led me to the decision to cut them out of my life. Their response, expressing regret for their past behavior and offering a listening ear, felt insincere to me, and I couldn't help but roll my eyes at what seemed like a disingenuous attempt to reconnect.

Cayden knocks on Dylan's door.

Cayden: Baby?

Dylan: Come in Handsome.

Cayden: How's your headache?

Dylan: Better can I talk to you?

Cayden: Of course, I am here for you always.

Dylan: My parents texted me when we were out to lunch and they wanted to speak about the way we left things.

Cayden: What did you say?

Dylan: I responded that I didn't want to talk about it and that I would appreciate it if they didn't reach out again you know they have a history of trying to reconnect with me and Rachel I mean they treated Rachel and I like shit growing up.

Cayden: Yes I do know that and I am proud of you for disconnecting from them it might help you find yourself.

Dylan: Yeah maybe I can just forget about them and live my life.

Cayden: So have you considered what I asked you about before?

Dylan: Coming with you and your parents to Hawaii?

Cayden: Yes they want you to come and I want you to come too.

Dylan: I will think about it and let you know I promise.

Cayden leans in to kiss Dylan. Dylan pulled Cayden back in by biting his lower lip and the quick peck quickly turned into a heated making-out session.

Two weeks into Summer break.

Cayden texts Dylan.

Cayden: Hey I hate to be annoying but my parents need to know if you are coming with us to Hawaii.

Dylan: Yeah I can come!

Cayden: Cool I can't wait babe I will tell them and we can go to mall tomorrow if you want.

Dylan: Sounds like a plan babe see you then!

Cayden: See you then.

End of conversation.

Cayden's point of view.

Oh my God, it was happening! I was going on my first real vacation with my boyfriend, and my parents were coming along. I was feeling nervous and, maybe, just maybe, freaking out a little bit. But that's not the point. The reason I was freaking out was that I had recently realized that I might be in love with Dylan. I wanted to express my emotions to him, but I was worried that he didn't feel the same way yet. I didn't want to rush into our new-found relationship. After all, it had only been five months since we started dating, so it hadn't been that long. I didn't want to ruin what we had worked so hard to build.

Cayden: Mom can I ask you something?

Michelle: Of course sweetheart what's up?

Cayden: Who was your first love?

Michelle: Your father.

Cayden: I think Dylan is the love of my life mom he makes me smile.

Michelle: That's great sweetie have you told him yet?

Cayden: I think I am going to tell him well we are in Hawaii

Michelle: I am so happy for you!

Cayden: Thanks mom.
