CHAPTER 12 - THE JOURNEY

   "Are all our supplies ready ?"  Veronica asked, "yes"  they all answered "good let's head out"   Veronica said. As they walked past the streets, Veronica kept recalling past memories of her and the person they were going to meet. She remembered of the time she defeated him in sword fighting three times in a row and how he made her his rival, despite all that they were on good terms with each other. "By the way, have you gone to Hilda mountains before Veronica ?" Abayomi asked.

      "Yes I have"  Veronica replied "how is the place like ?"  Abayomi asked ; "the mountain isn't an easy place and the locals there are very welcoming" She said. "How do we intend to get there ?" Amare asked, "well we will board a wagon from Golden City to Alphacrest, but in order not to waste time we will board another wagon to clover Hill. clover hill and Hilda and neighboring towns so from there we walk down to Hilda"  Ife explained. "Thank you Ife for the detailed explanation"  Veronica said, the rich the wagon stop and boarded a wagon heading to their first stop which is Alphacrest. Veronica felt nostalgic I should remember the old man she met who was in the same wagon with her when she was heading to Camilton. Just then she remember that she hasn't assessed Abayomi's status, she knew she was strong but was interested about her stats, so she used her appraisal skill, is read thus;

   "Wow she's a b rank not bad, though her surname looks familiar"  Veronica thoughts but decided to brush it off. The road for 2 hours and finally stopped at alpha Crest where they are alighted. Veronica check the time and saw it was 6:00 p.m. . "Why don't we Lodge here for the night and continue our journey tomorrow" She said. The rest agreed with her and began to walk through the street looking for an inn. "Oh wait I remember now I have a friend who owns an inn here"  Amare stated, "really who ?"  Veronica asked "oh a childhood friend I'll lead the way"  He said

  They continued walking, Veronica began to notice a presence that was watching them, she looked up and saw MJ watching them. Veronica gulped because she knew what she was in for and decided to talk to her later and explain everything. Later they found in cells in front of a building, the sign read "Simon league". "What a name"  Veronica thought. They went inside and they were welcome by a man in his 20s. The man recognized Amare and welcomed them wholeheartedly and give them two rooms for the night.

     While Ife and abayomi we're sleeping, Veronica was at the window with her back turned.
    "I know you are there just say what you have to say" She said, "your instinct are as sharp as ever"  a voice said. Veronica turned around to face the person to see it was her friend and colleague MJ. "Listen I can explain" Veronica said "that you tried to find out the truth about the incident and refused to tell me anything about" MJ said. Veronica agreed feeling embarrassed. "Listen Vero, I understand your intentions but I just need you to be careful do you remember the last time you tried this you almost lost your life" MJ said worriedly.

   "I know honestly I thought of giving up but suddenly I started having dreams about the place and was wondering why I couldn't easily access the truth when I was part of the PA and I just had to continue my search. so I decided to keep a low profile by becoming an adventurer maybe that way I'll be able to find out  the truth"  Veronica said. MJ looking at Veronica's determined face knew there was nothing she could do just advice how to be careful saying that she herself would be watching out for her, Veronica thanked her and she left.
