The forest was quite chillier than where Giyuu lived, underneath the pair's feet were twigs that snapped. Giyuu and Shinobu walked through the forest, Shinobu standing closely beside Giyuu, it wasn't that she was scared of anything in the forest, it was just that Giyuu was concerned she'd get hurt. He clenched onto his sword with one hand, while his other hand rested against his body. His eyes peered around, looking at the bushes, watching them twitch, he looked up towards the trees, examining in case anything like a demon or bear was hiding through the leaves. Shinobu couldn't help but chuckle at his protective behavior. "Hehe... Tomioka - san, you're being a worry-wart! I've gone scavenging in the forest many times, I know what I'm doing and how to protect myself." she spoke confidently, and for the most part, that was true. Shinobu—though not strong— knew how to defend herself, she knew how to protect herself from most creatures that could hurt her. She knew the forest like the back of her hand, but, she only knew the forest where she used to live, not the one by Giyuu's house. Little did she know about the dangers and all the murders that went on back there, mostly caused by demons.

The light of the evening sun glowed over the trees in the forest, golden showers drowning the two as they walked. Shinobu crouched down and began to pick some raspberries she found, plucking them from the vines and gently placing them into her basket. Giyuu cautiously looked around, peering at anything lurking around them. The bushes continued to twitch, and something felt off... Giyuu could feel it, his senses were just screaming that something was wrong. His eyes slivered, "Kochō... we should get going now." he said, his voice sounding more stern now. She turned her head around and looked up at him. "I haven't picked enough berries though!" she whined, his eyebrows furrowed down slightly. "We can go tomorrow, it's getting late, let's get home before demons come out and try to attack us..." he began to walk back to the house, she let out a sigh of annoyance and just followed him. He was the only protection she had, and she did have to admit he was right, if they stayed any longer she would most likely get attacked and eaten. Twigs snapped under her feet as she furrowed her eyebrows and walked behind him, upset. Giyuu turned his head and noticed her behavior, and how he seemed to have upset her. He stopped and waited for her to catch up, she looked up at him. "What is it?" she asked with frustration dripping in her voice. He avoided eye contact, looking down. "I'm sorry..." he said, his tone was quiet and sounded a bit shameful. Her eyebrows perked up and then sunk sadly. "I'm sorry for whining. Let's just go home, I'll make dinner." a small smile curled onto her lips, and her expression softened. She walked beside him, her basket bouncing in her hands as they walked.
