Inner eye
I swallowed the lump in my throat. "Sang," my mom's voice said threateningly. "You know you're not to talk to strangers! Who knows what they would have done to you!"
I took in her yelling like every time. My sister had snuck off somewhere, and I followed, just to make sure she was safe. I returned with her, and my mom flipped out, as Mary told her I was talking to people and that she was the one who save me.
I ran down the hall of our small apartment and was shaking in anger, or was it fear? Why was I so afraid of people, or isolation?
I made sure to lock the door and curtain shut tightly. Sitting on my bed with my legs crossed, I put my hands flat on my legs, palms up. A soft glow was spinning in my hands, like a misty fog. I took a deep breath. My emotions were running on high. I looked down at my arms, and saw the swirling designs sliding up my arms and disappearing under my shirt where they continue onto my back, birthmarks, glowing brightly. I closed my eyes, and let my mind float. I tried to clear it, letting go of my feelings and thoughts.
A hand grasped mine, pulling me close to something warm. A light giggle filled my ears, it was my own. A chuckl rumbled from the chest I was firmly pressed against. A sweet, angelic voice coaxed me into a dance. A hand firmly held my own and pressed into my side. Music, more beautiful than any other sound played softly, filling my insides with happiness and content. An animal, much like a fox, bright orange and gold like a sunset, danced and swung in circles, leaving a trail of beautiful rainbow fire. Symbols, two of them, danced across my eyelids. One was circle with a line through the middle, curved. The other was a spike upwards, and a dot on the very bottom. Silken cloth hung lightly on my skin, caressing me softer than a cloud. Lights were shining like the stars peeking at us above. Tall, glass building reaching towards the stars sparkled. I was spinning, and laughed at the sensation. "You're beautiful," the voice whispered softly in my ear, lips brushing my skin, sparking a reaction from me, sending tingles shooting down my spine to spread all the way to my toes. The warm lips slid slowly down my cheek slowly and sliding closer, ever so close to my lips. They were so close...
I jolted out of my dream, startled. My breathing was ragged. Sweat was coating my arms, and gathered on my eyebrows, slipping down my face. I wrung my hands lose, trying to calm down. I had dreams, sometimes nightmares, often when I meditated. The sky was now a rich dark blue. Time passed like a flash.
I grabbed the journal that was in my trunk at the end of my bed. I jotted down the dream, just like I had any other one I had. On the top corner, I drew the symbols I'd seen, just like every one.
It was growing late, but I couldn't sleep. I pulled out a sketchbook, and started drawing the scene etched into the backs of my eyelids from moments ago. Pencil lead scratched into the page, a picture slowly coming to life. I looked at it, and it caught just the right angle. I smiled and slipped the sketchbook back under my pillow. A yawn ripped from my mouth, and I flicked my light off, and rolled over. Darkness took me, and I was gone, far far away.
