"You... you're Poppy's angel." Said a voice that lead you to turn to the cell on your left. There, hanging on the wall by leather belts, was Dogday, white pupils peaking out from behind his large ears. What was more disturbing though, was the fact that his entire lower body was missing, and his torso was held shut with a belt around his waist. You were horrified at the scene as you held your hand over your mouth and said, "Holy shit..."
You wanted to throw up right then and there. "You came to save us?" Dogday assumed as you were still in shock, "Nothing left to save, not here... You're in Catnap's home now, angel. Their home. A million pairs of eyes are on you now. Watching, waiting, hungry." Looking down at the emblems you still held, you wanted to ask what had happened, but you couldn't find the words to say anything. Almost as if he was reading your mind, Dogday continued, "That, thing... Catnap. The Prototype is his god, and this is what he does to heretics. Those little toys follow him to avoid this very fate, and in return, they are fed. We tried to fight it, The Prototype's control. I'm... the last of the Smiling Critters."
With the look of dispare on his face, you finally forced words out of your mouth, "That's not true!" You caught Dogday's attention as he lifted his head up. You continued, "Kicken Chicken and Craftycorn are alive. I've seen them. Let me get you out of here, and I can take you to them." You spotted a faint look of hope in the Critter's eyes before he held his head once again, saying, "I'm glad they're still alive. But I can't leave, Catnap will hunt you down himself if you take me. You need to get out of this place. You need to live!"
You weren't willing to leave the Critter, no matter what. So you took Miss Delight's weapon and began hitting it against the belts holding Dogday up. The punctures along with Dogdays weight was enough to get them to snap, but you noticed the weapon degrading far faster as you worked, while Dogday tried to tell you to leave. But you didn't listen as you finally cut the last strap, and the Critter completely fell to the ground. But the weapon also met its end as it snapped in half at the final hit.
"Angel, what are you doing!? All this noise will attract him!" Dogday said in a panicked tone as you fumbled around the bag you had and pulled out some bandaging. "Doesn't matter, I'm getting you out of here, and that's that." You said as you quickly wrapped up Dogday's lower torso to close the massive wound for now. With the job done, you grabbed the toy by the wrists and hoisted him onto your back.
You were surprised at the Critter's weight, but began walking towards where you'd come in. "ANGEL!" Dogday suddenly shouted, prompting you to look over your shoulder. There, at the other end of the hall, stood Catnap, glaring daggers at you as red smoke began pouring out of his mouth. "Don't breathe it in!" You called out as you quickly pulled the gas mask over your head and tried to run from the Critter, who stood at the end of the hall before slowly making his way forward, other toys gathering around his feet and moving in on the two of you.
Another group of toys appeared at the end of the hall and shut the doors to the cell block, blocking your escape. Turning back to Catnap, you began to panic your self as the toys inched further closer, seemingly no longer distressed by the flares you fired at them. You once again locked eyes with Catnap, noticing an odd occurrence. Through the red mist, it appeared like the black pupils in Catnap's eyes were constantly dilating and constricting.
You didn't get the best of looks as the floor suddenly gave out underneath your and Dogday's combined weight, revealing a tunnel for which you could escape. Quickly running through the tunnels, and getting a sense of Deja vu, you constantly looked to Dogday on your back. He seemed to just be holding on to you as tight as he could. You could also see the near wave of Toy Critters charging after you, crawling all over each other in an attempt to reach you faster.
Firing flares at them to try and slow them down, you quickly lost count on how many you were using as you were more focused on escaping, entering a larger area and running up a slope before ducking into another tunnel. Taking whatever direction that didn't have Toy Critters coming from, you came out into another area with a slide at the end. Taking it down once more, you came into a larger area where you could see an elevator over a large open gap, and a purple hand pad in front. "Wait! You won't be able to make that jump!" Dogday said as you took a running start, not listening to the distressed Critter. You could feel adrenaline pumping through your veins as you neared the gap. You then planted your foot and jumped as far as you could.
