The slow decent of the elevator felt so painful as you, Poppy, and the others from Playcare were forced to take the elevator down as the hatch above had shut. The shrill screams from Kissy still fresh in your mind as Craftycorn was comforted by both Miss Delight and Dogday. Kick was uncharacteristically silent as he sat down, the Toy Critters of Bobby Bearhug and Hoppy Hopscotch sitting in his lap.
Catnap was still standing to let the others rest, but his eyes were blacked out like he'd closed them and was contemplating something. Poppy stood next to the terminal you were currently operating while she yelled frantically, "No no no NO! Hold on, Kissy! I'm coming!" "Who's stupid idea was it for the latch to only open again from this side once you started from the bottom!?" You growled in frustration as you held the lever down to try and speed up the process.
"Listen, go on ahead. Don't wait for me. I won't leave Kissy behind, and I won't sacrifice our plan. Not because of... Because of me." Poppy explained as she held onto the console for balance. "But if you go up there by yourself, there's no telling what could happen." You retorted. "I'll be fine. Just... be careful as you go along. Down here, it's... It's not like anything you've seen above. It's not trying to hide what it is." Poppy explained. But before she could continue, Dogday spoke up, "It's Hell. And Playtime wanted it to be..."
You looked to the Smiling Critter before looking over the edge, seeing the approaching ground. "'Into the belly of the beast', as they say." You instinctively said, trying to lighten the situation, futile as it was. "But we have allies down here. Get to them." Poppy said as the elevator came to a halt. Everyone was quick to climb off so Poppy could return back up. "You be careful as well." You told the doll as you left the metal platform for the concrete floor of the large loading bay surrounding the elevator.
As it began to rise once again as Poppy pushed a button, she looked down at you as she said, "There's still time to save the orphans. Follow the Red Smoke! And look out for--" But before she could finish explaining, a steam pipe burst, creating a loud noise that easily drowned out her voice. Despite your attempts to call out to her, your voice wasn't able to reach over the sound as she continued above without noticing.
You turned your gaze to the large loading bay full of large shipping containers before looking into what you and the others had at hand. Strapping the Grab pack to your back, Miss Delight carried the bag full of what food you were able to gather from the vending machines in playcare. "Everyone ready?" You asked as you turned to enter the loading bay after hearing a decisive agreement from everyone else.
Following the pipes of Red Smoke, you quickly spotted a door leading into the cave system this place had apparently been built into. But the door was locked by a blue hand scanner, which in turn needed a battery to power it. You looked around for it in the area before you saw Catnap get up on a ledge on the other side of the bay. He slowly stuck one of his paws into a parting between a fence, reaching into the room you weren't able to see from the door.
"What's he reaching for?" You called over to Dogday who was next to Catnap in order to keep an eye on him. "The battery needed for the door is through the fence Angel." Dogday called back over as Catnap successfully retrieved the battery and brought it over to you. You gave the critter a smile as you plugged the battery into the socket and activated the blue hand scanner, which allowed you passage into the hall leading to the caves.
Turning down the hall, you spotted an open door just before the door to the caves, and decided to investigate it. Inside, a large portion of the wall had been broken, allowing you to see the red pipe leading you in the direction of the caves. There were also a few dead critters lying about, reminding you of those still waiting for you. Miss Delight and Crafty stayed out of the room with the toy Critters as you looked in the room with Kick and Dogday.
