I stared at Roll in disbelief, slowly lowering my mega buster. There was a ringing in my ears, like the fear that had gripped me rang through my whole body. "Not you, Roll... No."
She stared back at me, but it looked more like she was studying me. She turned her head slightly as if trying to think of something. Maybe she was remembering me, and trying to decide whether or not to fight me. I knew whether or not she shot at me, I wouldn't be able to throw anything back at her. I didn't have the strength to attack my sister.
"Roll," I begged, offering her my hand, as if taking it would signify something. "Please. Help me figure all of this out."
She backed up and looked from my hand to my face; for a second, it looked like she was going to grab it. But without any warning, her hand changed into a saw and she cut my hand off.
"Roll!" I shouted, grabbing my hand and grimacing in pain.
She pointed her identical mega buster at me. "Roll doesn't live here anymore."
I ducked right before she shot, sliding around her. With tears dripping down my face, I ran for the front door. I looked behind me, noticing she hadn't moved an inch since shooting me. Her eyes seemed to flash with sadness. They were wet and glossy, as if she were about to cry. To leave her... "I'm so sorry I didn't protect you, Roll..." I told her, taking one last look at her and the lab.
"I will not spare you in the future," Roll told me, her voice heavy. "Go."
After closing my eyes, I stole myself away from the sight of her, and ran towards the city. But where would I go? Dr. Light was in the lab that I had been in. I had left him there, where Roll could be ordered to capture him or worse. And what had happened; her hand had turned into a saw? Maybe she had other implements literally up her sleeve.
After looking at the city and being halfway there, I paused. I needed rest. To go back and try and fight would be suicide. Maybe there would be an E-tank somewhere closer.
But as I turned my back to the city, I could have sworn I had seen something falling in the sky. I resisted turning back, blaming my fatigue, but...
I turned back, and I had been right. Something was falling through the sky, miles above the city. It was too small to be a plane, but it could have been a stray robot, scanning the city through the skies. "What?" I asked myself, zooming my scanners in.
I stumbled as I saw a large, blue hedgehog waving his arms around through the sky as he fell. I wouldn't be able to get to him before he hit the ground. Panic filled my brain, overwhelming me. Rush was out of commission. But I could... I could at least run and see if he would survive the fall.
With a sigh, I ran back to the city at full speed, not expecting what I saw. I had expected some of it to have been taken over, but the entire city had fallen; there were robots on every corner like Flash Man had been before, and they were sure to see Sonic's descent. What they would do about it, I didn't know. I just knew I needed to hurry.
The first robot I had to get past was Cloud Man. He looked just like he sounded. Wily had created him against me, and despite his name, he wasn't as nice as he sounds. But he looked very cuddly. He didn't put up too much of a fight, but I wasn't looking to fight any robots. I just wanted in and out. I didn't have the energy to fight much more.
The next few robots to get past were Flame Man, Guts Man, and Wood Man. They were completely oblivious to me. I dashed past them, going toward the center of the city.
I went a different way when I saw Snake Man. Just looking at him made me shiver. He was the creepiest of all of the robots. He even slithered when he walked, and I didn't really care for snakes.
