'Dammit, how do I say this without sounding awkward?'

"Hm? Oh, wha~t's this?"

Both Katsuki and Izumi whirled their heads to look at Sophie who was pointing at a box that was resting right on the greenette's desk.

"Hm? A box?"

Sophie knew that this was the box that had the cake inside, so she didn't wanna hesitate any longer and pulled the lid open.

"Oh wow~ Would you look at that, Miss Doriyaku!" Sophie exclaimed, trying to act like she didn't know.

"Hm? What is– Ah–"

Izumi approached the box and looked inside to see the pristine cake covered in whipped cream that looked like clouds and strawberries that looked like they were just freshly picked.

"Ah– A cake?"

"Wow~ It looks really pretty~" Sophie exaggerated.

"Yes, it does. Ah– But hang on, I don't remember this box being here when you and I left to go to the cafeteria earlier." Izumi noted, causing Katsuki to flinch in his chair.

But Sophie wasn't gonna let this plan go to ruin, in fact, she was gonna help her father.

"Oh yeah~ Hey dad, did you bring this?" Sophie questioned, easily making her and Izumi turn to look back at the blushing blond.

"U-Uh– W-Well– I-I might've uh– b-brought one." Katsuki stuttered, but Sophie wasn't gonna let it end there.

"Oh~ Is that why it smelled so nice in the kitchen late last night, dad?" the blonde added, causing her father to flinch again.

"Hm? In the kitchen? Then Mr. Dynamite, are you saying that you... made this?" Izumi asked as she looked at him again.

"U-Uh– I– Ahem! I-I figured it would make sense to bring since I-I wanted to uh– p-pay you back."

"Pay me back?"

"Yeah! You've helped us so much this past week, Miss Doriyaku, so it would only make sense for my dad to want to make a cake just for you!"

"Just for... me?"

Izumi was almost speechless, as she never anticipated anything like this from the Number 1 hero.

In the end, she couldn't help but smile as she looked at him.

"Hmph, how very sweet of you, Mr. Dynamite, then I will enjoy it." she answered with a warm smile, making Katsuki's heart wanna pop out of his chest.

"U-Uh– Y-Yeah..."

"Then what're we waiting for, let's hurry up with our lunch so we can all get a slice!" Sophie suggested.

"Goodness Sophie, you're more excited than I am."

"Of course, if it's something my dad made then it's bound to taste good!"

"Wah– Yah– I haven't baked anything in years, so who knows if it'll taste bad!"

"I don't think so."

"Huh?"

"Because if Mr. Dynamite made it with such care, then it doesn't matter what it tastes like, it's the thought that counts." the greenette added.

"Wha– Uh– I-I guess..."

Seeing her parents just getting closer and closer like this again only made Sophie happy, as it felt like even after 10 years, her parents were wanting to be happy again.
