140: Grateful

Standing at the reception desk, Katsuki dug his hand through his back pocket and pulled out his wallet and started digging into it. But while doing so, the front desk lady stopped him. 

"Ah– Mr. Bakugo, the hospital bill's already been paid." she spoke, stopping Katsuki from grabbing his card. He looked up at the woman as she remained to have a blank expression on her face, making him think he heard things. 

"W-What?" 

"The hospital bill's already been paid, Mr. Bakugo." 

"Huh?" 

'But I don't remember paying for any hospital bills.' he thought, making him wonder who it could've been. 

"Who did then?" he asked. 

"Let's see~ Last name is... Doriyaku." 

"Ah–" 

'What? She... She paid the bill? When did she–' 

"Ah– M-Mr. Dynamite, you go ahead first." "I-I just need some fresh air, but I'll join you right after." 

'Was it earlier? But why? She didn't have to.' he thought. 

"Uh– O-Okay then, thanks." 

"Yes, Mr. Bakugo."

He shoved his wallet back into his pocket and ended up leaving the hospital in deep thought, only to find himself outside and looking up ahead of him. What he saw ahead was a certain greenette sitting on a park bench and had a plastic bowl with a cover on top of it as there was another covered plastic bowl sitting right next to her. 

There she was staring up at the starry night sky and seeming to be in deep awe by what she was witnessing. 

'She... But why did she pay the bill? Does she... feel bad for me?' he thought as he just stared at her from the distance he was at. 

But it didn't last long as he watched Izumi look ahead of herself and then happen to look over and see him standing there. 

"Oh! Mr. Dynamite, c'mere!" she happily spoke as she waved for him to come over to her. Just seeing her excitedly look at him this way and knowing that she's been the one helping his kids when he wasn't there, it really made him understand that she truly is the sign he's been needing all this time.

He slowly started to walk towards the park bench until he stopped right in front of her and made her look up at him. 

"Come sit. I got us some dinner." she offered. 

He didn't need to say anything as he found himself sitting down next to the greenette and watching her hand him one of the plastic covered bowls. When he looked down at what he was handed, he realized he was given a bowl of instant Ramen that was still holding the cover to make sure none of the hot water escaped. 

"Ra– Ramen?" 

"Mn. It's not much, but it's always something that makes me feel better, so I figured–" 

"I would like it too?" he interrupted, stopping her and making her look up at him again.

"Ah– Yes. Exactly. Anyway, enjoy." she added as she uncovered her bowl and grabbed her chopsticks to start eating. 

Katsuki on the other hand couldn't but watch her as she took the first full bite of the instant noodles. But as he watched her, he noticed how her hair kept going over her shoulder and almost getting to the point of getting dipped into her bowl.

"Wha– Yah–" 

"Hm?" 

She looked over at him with her mouth still full to see that he'd yet to open his bowl of dinner and was wondering why he hadn't eaten yet.
