Climbing Up to You - Minsung

Chapter 18

"Right, This is our last session before we head over to Japan for the Lead Championships," See-Yung spoke to the Korean team as they stood around doing their stretches in preparation for the morning training.

"We'll be doing endurance training and I'll be having you practice three different lead climbs today so you'll probably be tired by the end of the day. I hope you have already got everything packed as we'll be going out for a meal and then leaving early tomorrow morning." See-Yung explained as he glanced over the team.

Jisung pulled out his harness from his bag and began untangling it to pull it on. He was fairly stressed about the championships, his first appearance as a Korean participant. There was a lot of pressure to perform well. No doubt Chris would be watching so he needed to prove to Chris that they made the right decision to move him to the new team.

"I'll be going up the wall with you so I'm going to grab my harness and warm up as well. Make sure you are all stretched and ready to go by the time I get back." See-Yung commented before heading off towards his office to grab his climbing gear.

Jisung let out a small huff as he pulled on his harness and tightened it up. Glancing over Minho was already checking out the route that See-Yung had set up for the group to climb so Jisung headed in the same direction.

As Jisung reached Minho the older boy shrugged slightly, "It's pretty easy, but more power moves than anything." Minho pointed up to a middle section which had a lot of crack holds and crimps, "That section, however, is going to be painful. Better warm your fingers up Hannie those holes look small." Minho looked to the British climber and winked and a small chuckle before walking away.

Jisung gulped and felt his body heat up over the stupid flirty innuendo. Glancing up at the wall Jisung felt slightly worried. It definitely didn't play to his strengths and so he hoped that he could at least be happy with his performance regardless of where he reaches.

A loud clap brought Jisung back and he spun around to spot See-Yung reaching the group, now geared up with his harness and chalk bag.

"Right then, who wants to go first? Jeongyeon?" See-Yung motioned for the girl to head over to the start of the climb.

"I'll be climbing beside you so I can give you tips as you go. Make sure to look out for good resting points." See-Yung explained as he began the ascend upwards towards the first pitch change.

Jisung slumped down onto the mat making sure not to watch the route, so he didn't see the beta.

"Excited for the championship Jisung?" Miihi asked as she collapsed down next to him on the mat, grabbing out a banana from her bag to munch on.

"I'm fairly excited, but probably more nervous," Jisung explained as he glanced towards the banana that Miihi was happily eating.

"Want one? I have another?" Miihi pulled out an extra banana out of her bag and offered it to Jisung.

"Oh..um no thanks, they are yours. I'll grab something from the cafe later." Jisung gave a small smile as Minho was called to get ready to climb as Jeongyeon was nearing the top.

Miihi shrugged and finished off her fruit, "Suit yourself. How are you liking the facilities?" Miihi asked.

"It's way nicer than back in England, not just the climbing, being able to actually go swimming each morning is great, usually I could only go if it was at a hotel or if I could find time during the week," Jisung explained as he played with one of the loose strings on his harness.

"Oh yeah! Minho Oppa said that he had seen you coming from the swimming centre a couple of times, I didn't realise you did it so frequently." Miihi grinned as she stretched out her legs to keep herself warm.
