The news hit like a tidal wave.

I was in the middle of a quiet afternoon at home when my phone buzzed incessantly. At first, I thought it was just another round of messages from my friends or updates from the company, but as I unlocked my screen, the barrage of notifications and headlines flashing on social media made my heart plummet.

* HYUNJIN AND XENAMI SPOTTED: ARE THEY MORE THAN JUST FRIENDS? *

* STRAY KIDS MEMBER HYUNJIN CAUGHT IN A SECRET ROMANCE WITH XENAMI! *

* ARE XENAMI AND HYUNJIN OF STRAY KIDS DATING? HERE'S WHAT WE KNOW *

My breath caught in my throat as I scrolled through the articles, each one filled with speculations and photos taken at what I thought were private, unnoticed moments. The rumors were swirling out of control, and it didn't take long before the hate comments started pouring in.

"She's just playing with their feelings."
"First Lee Know, now Hyunjin? Who's next, Felix?"
"She's clearly trying to get attention. She's so fake."

I felt my chest tighten, the words cutting deep despite my efforts to ignore them. It was as if everything I had been carefully balancing, every private moment I had tried to keep sacred, was now laid bare for the world to dissect.

Before I could fully process what was happening, my phone rang, and my new manager's name flashed on the screen. My heart sank further, knowing this conversation was inevitable.

"Hey, Xena..." They began, their tone calm yet concerned. "We need to talk about the Hyunjin situation. Have you seen the news?"

"Yeah." I whispered, struggling to keep my voice steady. "It's not what it looks like. I mean, we're not... It's all just a misunderstanding."

There was a pause on the other end before they sighed. "I believe you, but you know how these things can spiral. The company's working on a statement, but this isn't just going to blow over. We need to address it carefully."

I bit my lip, feeling the weight of the situation settle over me. My manager had become someone I trusted, someone I had grown close to during my transition to the new company, and now they were the one I had to reassure while I barely believed it myself.

"Just tell me what I need to do." I finally said, trying to sound more composed than I felt.

"Just be honest." They replied softly. "The company is going to put out a statement saying that your personal life is your business and that it's your choice whether or not you want to keep it public. But you need to be ready for the backlash..."
