Chapter 23: Secrets of the Hagan

It has been three months since Konan came to Konoha, and then was adopted by Tsunade herself and became her third daughter. Konan was a brilliant shinobi, and she was put into the academy to learn Konoha's history and take a path she saw fit for herself. While at the academy, Konan made some friends, but some of her friends felt she was a little weird that a fifteen-year-old girl was being sent to the academy. Konan reassured them she was there to learn and become a better person than her empty shell. Among her friends was eleven-year-old Rin Nohara, who saw Konan as a big sister to her. After Rin was bullied at the academy, Konan stepped in and stopped the bullying, and the two became friends since then. Rin and Konan would be playfully flirty with each other to cheer up the other if they were feeling down or having a bad day. Konan is also good friends with Obito Uchiha, who sometimes annoys Konan, but Konan does see that he has a good heart and sometimes puts up with his antics. Konan even met the more annoying and goofball Might Guy, but Konan and Rin enjoyed chatting and eating together during their lunch break. "So! What's my favourite blue-haired girl up to after the academy today?" Rin asked. Konan just finished eating sushi and then looked at Rin. "Well... I ask a request to see either Lord Third or Lord Fourth. I wanted to ask them something for a while anyway," Konan said. Rin tilted her head and was curious about this. "What are you going to ask them, Konan?" Rin asked again. Konan giggled at her curious puppy face. "I'm going to ask if they could add something to the C-Rank missions," Konan said, but before Rin could ask another question. Suddenly, An ANBU showed up wearing a Fennec Fox mask. "Konan, you're requested to see Lord Third and Lord Fourth, which has been granted," Fennec Fox said. Konan playfully rolled her eyes at her. "Oh, drop the tough voice act, Shizune. It's just me and Rin here," Konan said. Then Shizune hunched a little and then groaned at Konan. "Oh, for Kami's sake, Konan... Could you please not say my name out loud like that!" Shizune said. Rin covered her mouth, trying not to laugh at Shizune's reaction, and then Shizune straightened up. "Anyway! You're free to visit them any time, Konan. They aren't that busy today," Shizune said. Konan smiled and then nodded at Shizune. Then Shizune Shunshine away. Konan put away her bento boxes and put them into her storage scroll, and then Konan got up and looked at Rin. "Well... I'll see you when I get back, Rin. I shouldn't be too long," Konan said. Rin pouted as she was putting away her bento boxes, but then she had a silly idea and slightly glanced at Konan. She waited for her to turn around as Rin put her bento boxes in her storage scroll.

As soon as Konan turned around to walk towards the Hokage Tower. Rin giggled and then surprisingly jumped onto Konan's back. Konan squealed out of embarrassment and blushed deep red from Rin's sudden surprise. Konan looked over her shoulder to see Rin with a bright smile, her arms around Konan's beck and her legs around Konan's waist. "What do you think you are doing, Rin? You've scared me!" Konan said. Rin giggled and nuzzled her head against Konan's back, stopping and looking at her. "Oh, don't be like that. You know I won't leave you alone until you take me," Rin said. Konan playfully rolled her eyes and placed her hands on Rin's hamstrings, and then Konan adjusted Rin a little. "Comfy?" Konan asked. Rin smiled at Konan and nodded. Konan looked away and carried Rin to the tower with her. After several minutes of jogging and Rin on her back. Konan reached the tower and rushed inside. As soon as the doors were open, two shinobi were leaving, startled and puzzled by their sudden appearance. They rubbed the top of their heads, looked at each other, and shrugged. Konan rushed past everyone and reached the top of the staircase, but she stopped and let Rin off her back. Then Konan leaned against a wall and patted her chest to regain her breath. "Wow, Konan... It would help if you worked out more," Rin said. Konan looked at Rin and sighed at her. "I'll work out more, only if you do too, Rin," Konan said and giggled. Rin pouted and stuck her tongue out to Konan. Rin went over to the door and knocked on it, and then she looked back at Konan. "If I train more, you work out more, deal?" Rin said. Konan playfully rolled her eyes at her again, and then she nodded to their deal. They both heard 'Come in!" from the other side of the door, and then Konan got off the wall, and the two girls went inside the Hokage office. Hiruzen and Minato were puzzled about why Rin was with Konan, and then Minato spoke up. "Rin! Why are you here? Konan wanted to see us," Minato said. Rin just stopped beside Konan, showing a bright smile, and rubbed the back of her head. "Had to bring her, or I'll never hear the end of it," Konan said. Hiruzen chuckled a little while Minato rolled his eyes and looked at Konan. "Anyway! Why did you want to see us, Konan? You could have waited until I came to visit Kushina," Minato said. "Well... I figured I came and saw maybe one of you and talked to you about my request," Konan explained. Hiruzen listened carefully, as did Minato. "Well, we're listening, Konan," Minato said. Rin sat on the couch while Konan approached Minato's desk and stood before them. "Well... I want to add another type of mission to the C-Rank missions," Konan started. Hiruzen and Minato were curious as Minato gestured for Konan to continue. "I was thinking of Archaeology! I enjoy being in Konoha, but I feel like I could help better if I were out of the village and looking through old ruins, temples, and abandoned places that would be lost history to Konoha," Konan said.
