Chapter 32: Third Shinobi War Part 3: Battle Scars

Three months later. Tsunade was busy and had her hands too full with all of the shinobi coming back from the war with deep wounds and missing limbs, and either died during their stay at the hospital with Shizune helping her or other staff members being too busy that most of the staff didn't have time to go home. Around Tsunade's neck was a necklace with a spider pendant on it as it was a gift from Jorogumo, who made a deal with her that Jorogumo's son had picked Rin to be his mate at the right time. She would only need to summon Joro Spider just by breaking the pendant. Still, Jorogumo is giving them time as she is planning to teach Joro Spider how to be a human again after many years of being a wild animal. The thought of Rin being with a monster like Joro Spider aches Tsunade's stomach to the core as she hopes to not come to the thought of breaking the pendant, and if anything happens to Tsunade, she would have to pass on the necklace to Rin. The several shinobi who were heading towards Tsunade and her family three months ago were Kumo shinobi and were led by Kakashi, who still has a grudge against Konoha and wants to see it fall. However, Kakashi and his squad were easily defeated and either killed or injured, and the injured were brought back to Konoha and treated. Then they were taken in to be interrogated by Ina, who enjoyed torturing Kakashi and made him sing like a bird as he told Ina everything that she wanted to hear and didn't lie once. However, Kakashi was still being held in Konoha's small prison, and his chakra was blocked until such time. Rin was recovering after being forced to have a tailed beast inside of her and was going through some trauma from the events with Kushina and Anko were taking turns to look after Rin and trying to bring her back to her happy-go-lucky self again as Anko missed that side of Rin and wanted to be sure she'll be herself again. Minato was busy doing some Hokage duties to keep his mind off things after everything that happened and was worried about what he'd have to plan out if Rin and Joro Spider worked out, and just the thought of them together didn't sit well with Minato. In contrast, he sits on his chair to work things in his mind while his Shadow Clones are busy doing all of the paperwork to pass the time for him. Obito is currently doing more deeds as he is placed with Team Kushina, and Team Minato is on break until Rin is better. Konan is currently doing her work by doing archaeology work as she found a special stone sword last month and wasn't sure what the sword did or who it belonged to. After a few hours of sleep, Konan worked tirelessly to work out what the sword was and took breaks to look after Rin.

One afternoon, Rin came into Konan's office after Kushina went off to work as a teacher. Anko went off with her team on a mission that she hoped to come back to her family, and then Rin walked up to Konan and saw her hunched over her desk, sleeping. Rin was worried about her bad sleeping habits with her work. Then, Rin reached for Konan's right thigh and felt it cold, and then she leaned away and sighed. "Your legs are numb again," Rin said softly, as she didn't like Konan sleeping like this and not looking after herself better. Rin summoned a Shadow Clone to help her with Konan, and they gently held Konan up, moved her chair, and picked her up. Rin was holding Konan's upper body, and the clone was gently holding Konan's legs as they took Konan over to her bed and lay her down. The clone gently shoved Konan's legs under the covers, and Rin pulled the rest of the covers over Konan's body and tucked her in. Rin then leaned down and kissed Konan's head, causing Konan to smile and start to breathe softly. Rin went over to Konan's desk, and Rin's clone had deactivated itself. Then, Rin piled up Konan's papers, put Konan's pen inside her notebook to keep Konan's page, and then Rin shoved Konan's chair under her desk and went to leave Konan's room just as Rin left Konan's room and left the door slightly open. Rin was about to leave to let Konan rest when she finally noticed the sword that Konan was working on. Curiousness got the best of her as she went back into Konan's room and over to the sword that was leaning against the wall. Rin is now in front of the sword. Then, she slowly reached out for the sword, and she slowly started to hear voices from the sword in her mind. Her index finger touched the diamond oval shape on the handle, and suddenly, a small flash of light from the sword blinded Rin, causing her to flinch and cover her face with her arms. The light stopped, and Rin unshielded her eyes and looked around the room. Everything was normal, but the sword was no longer stone as it turned back to its original form. Rin was very confused and wasn't sure if she should tell Konan or not, but she didn't like lying to Konan or her family, so she went over to Konan and gently shook her. Konan slowly stirred and groaned a little as she opened her eyes, only for her eyes to meet a worried Rin. Konan sat up and looked at Rin. "Are you okay, Rin?" Konan asked as Rin sat on Konan's bed and hung her head down. "Um... Konan..." Rin softly said as she pointed at the sword. Konan followed her gaze, shocked to see the sword wasn't a stone anymore, and looked back at Rin.
