"She'll be just fine, Mr. Chigiri"The older lady brushed her hand across the girl's forehead, careful to avoid the bandage that covered a small, but bruised, cut on the left. Despite the calm front Karla was presenting to the young man, her hands hadn't stopped shaking. The sight was just too scary to dismiss. A limp (y/n), held close to a boy that looked like the world was crumbling at his feet, had just burst into her infirmary and yelled for help. How could she not assume the worst?
Fortunately, with the two of them working together, they were able to comfortably assess that the 'worst' had not in fact happened, but she would definitely be out for a good while. Karla had to speak with the boy to investigate just how the injury happened, and was shocked to find out who had done this to her girl.
"Reo? You must be joking. He would never hit her!" Her face twisted at the thought of it. Chigiri curled his fists and looked down at his lap. He knew that already...
"It- It wasn't all his fault, Mrs. Karla..I-"
No... this was his fault. Why couldn't he have kept his damn mouth shut? No jealous reaction he sought was worth any of this. Hell, nothing is worth any of this! All he was feeling was lust.. he doesn't know the first thing about (y/n) like Reo and Nagi do, and here he is starting petty fights to feel something. To get a reaction out of an already damaged man. To convince a woman he barely knows to take interest in him.
'What the fuck is wrong with me?'
"You can say it, love. I won't be mad" She said, moving her hand down from the girl's face to hold her hand. They've always been so small, her hands, but now, they feel so much stronger and firm. Ever since she met these boys. The least Karla could do was extended a caring heart to them. "Whatever you're feeling, just know that (y/n) cares about you a lot." She giggled for a moment, then continued. "She's only known the most of you for a few days, yet she talks about you all like it's been forever!"
"Thank you for being her friend, Chigiri"
She knew that when she inevitably found out what the boy confessed, it wouldn't do much to change her image of the boy. In fact, halfway through her sweet sentiment, he had already started to cry. 'What's with all of these kind hearted people?' She thought, placing a hand to her cheek and keeping her soft smile, 'and they're supposed to be egoists? Don't make me laugh, Mr. Ego!'
Of course, Karla had little to no idea how they were on the field, so she didn't really know.
Karla waited for Chigiri's snuffles to pass before asking him again if he'd like to talk, and once he heard his story, her smile grew even bigger and even started laughing! You see, his initial story had left out very important details relating to how the fight broke out. He didn't say a word about the jealous remarks and egging he did.
"Oh, i've heard this story at least 20 times already! You'd be surprised with how many fights Nagi and Reo had back in the day. They would be at each other's throats daily when it came to that kind of stuff."
For at least the first 3 years of the trio being together, and even into high school, Nagi and Reo would frequently try and win the innocent girl over, and the older they got, the more violent they each became with one another. It would never happen in the hospital, but Karla was pretty much the mediator everytime, so she heard everything when they came in to visit. Early on, it was just cute crushly banter, but when she saw how bad it was turning out, she had to sit them down and really give them a talk.
"Oh... really?" Chigiri took a deep breath in. "I didn't know..."
"So don't sweat it!" Karla reached out a hand for the boy. "Just keep her safe from now on, ok? I'll let you know when she wakes up. She'll likely be confused, but just be honest with her. She really isn't one to judge"
