Paedyn

I'm sitting in our room, as Kai is laying on his side fast asleep, his arm draped over my stomach, and his face buried into my side. I'm reading a strange book about preganancy that Kai found earlier, and so far this is all terrifying. The things that you think you know, and then you realize everything that you thought you knew was wrong and everything that you thought was just a horror story was all true.

I hear a timid knock on the door as I try to sit up but Kai, being completely out held me in my place.

"Is everyone decent this time?" I hear a timid Jax say, as he peeks his head through the door.

"Yes, everyone is clothed." I chuckled remembering the horror on his face the last time he had come into our room. I watch his face relax as he steps further into the room with Andy at his side.

"We were wondering if you were coming to dinner in an hour?" Jax asks me wholesomely.

"More acurtaely we want to know if he going to be sulking because your not there, or being possibly belligerent because you are there, as his brothers wife." Andy cut in giving me a chuckle.

"You know, I wouldn't mind going, it just depends on if sleeping beauty over here will ever wake up." I chuckle as I look over at Kai

"I heard that," he mumbled wrapping arms around me more tightly.

I chuckled at his antics.

"Prince you gotta wake up, you've been hiding in here all either sleeping or." I stop as Jax's face goes white again. "Acting in ways that would traumatize your little brother." I chuckle finishing the thought. I felt as he smirked

"But being in here is so much nicer than being out there. I have all I could ever need, a bed, water, my wife, and the oh-so-lovely meals that she gives." He says in a sly voice.

"Malakai Azer!" I laugh trying to scold him

He just slowly sits up and laughs. Looking over I see Jax trying to hide his discomfort, and then Andy shaking her head trying not to laugh.

"Kai, as much as I love spending time with you I am starving, and personally I don't think the baby is satisfied with your idea of a meal." I reminded him. He looked at me with a chuckle. Groaning as he finally sat up completely.

"Fine, but if Kitt tries anything tonight don't think I won't call him out."

I roll my eyes. "Alright, but that means Blaire isn't safe either."

"You act like you were going to be nice to her in the first place." he laughs.

"You may have caught me, Mr. Azer, I wasn't going to be nice either way." I laugh as I burry my face in his chest

A little later we were dressed like normal people Kai was sporting loose-fitting black pants, and I was in leggings and a random shirt I found in the closet. The dinner tonight was not supposed to be special or ball-like; the occupants of the palace were just sitting and eating together. We enter the room seeing Blair now proudly sitting in the seat that I was being forced into just days ago, and there were two seats empty next to Jax near the head of the table. I guess even Kitt couldn't make it when his enforcer wasn't by his side.

Kai and I take our seats, I was sitting on the far side of Kai, staying as far away from Kitt as I could.

"Well Kitt, how did the kingdom handle you not marrying Paedyn?" Kai asked him slyly. Of course Kai was trying to get him riled up again. I gently place my hand on his leg. Trying to signal to him that maybe starting a fight was not the best decision tonight.x

"Shockingly, most of the people were happy, most didn't want her on the throne anyways due to her murdering our father. Others were happy because they thought that the two of you were made to be." He said matter of factly cutting the steak that had been placed onto his plate.

"Well, I would hate to disagree with the people of the kingdom who are simply correct" Kai replies, I guess he did not get my message about being calm tonight. Granted he said that he wasn't going to play nice if we came. I just had hoped that the King would have been in a better mood for his antics, but obviously Kitt was not.

"Either way Kitt, I can see you and Blaire are smitten with one another. Seems to be a match made in heaven. I think you both will be very happy together." I started trying to calm the situation.

Despite wanting to rip her throat out, I made it through the dinner without attempting to kill Blaire. But the dinner was filled with sly and passive comments from both Kai and Kitt.

Finally, I think Andy got sick of it, butting into the conversation. "Either way, Kai Paedyn, by this point we have all heard that you both are expecting a little bundle of joy. Are you both excited?"

"Trying to be, I can't wait to meet the little one, but I'm also so nervous to mess up. But hopefully, within the next few months, I'll feel what their partial Elite ability is, try to get to know them a little before they're born." Kai replies with ease.

I say it once and I will say it a thousand times more, my husband may not think it, but he is going to be an amazing father.

"I can understand that fear. Have you gone to see any of the healers Paedyn, see how you and the little one are doing?" Andy asked turning her attention toward me

"Oh, not yet, I've been meaning to but my husband here has been keeping me busy. I'll probably stop by at some point this week to see what's going on." I replied. I hadn't even thought of it, but now that it was brought to my attention, Andy was right, I needed to go see a healer or a midwife or something just to make sure everything is turning out okay."

Finally, the dinner came to an end and Kai and I made our way back to our room.

"Hey what do you think of maybe having this wall knocked down and adding a door here, that way we can turn the vacant room next door into a nursery?" Kai asked me looking at a random spot in the wall.

"Whatever you think is best Prince," I reply as I walk up behind him wrapping my arms around him resting my head against his back.

"I know you trust my opinion Pae, but this is your home just as much as mine now."

"Well, I trust you with this baby. Besides, besides I haven't had a true home since my father died unless you counted the fort, but that decoration was overrun by A's collection of fabrics and needles." I chuckle thinking about all the times I had rolled over on one of her sewing needles in the middle of the night, having to pry them out of my skin in the morning. The thought made me miss her, I just wished she was here to go through this with me.

Within hours Kai and I had curled ourselves up tangled in each other's affection as we fell asleep.
