Weird Count ~ 528
*it's the set of Trust Issues, listen to the song while reading *The set was buzzing with energy—cameras rolling, lights flashing, the heavy bass shaking the floor beneath Brini's heels. She stood off to the side, arms crossed, watching as King Von did his thing. He was in his zone, rapping like he owned the world, but her attention was locked on her—one of the video girls who was entirely too comfortable.
Brini watched as the girl leaned in too close, her hand casually brushing Von's arm, whispering something in his ear that made him smirk. That was it.
She marched straight up to him the moment the director called for a break. "Dayvon."
At the sound of his real name, Von sighed before turning to her. "Man, what?"
Brini cocked her head. "You tell me. What's up with that girl?"
Von chuckled like she was being ridiculous. "You really on that right now?"
"Yes, I'm really on that right now," she shot back, arms tightening around her chest. "She all up on you like she tryna be more than a damn extra."
"She just doin' her job," Von said, shaking his head. "You know how this go."
Brini scoffed, stepping closer. "Doin' her job or tryna do you?"
Von exhaled hard. "Brini, I don't got time for this jealous shit right now. We workin'."
She narrowed her eyes. "Oh, so now I'm trippin'?" She paused for a second before a smirk curved her lips, sarcasm dripping from her tone. "Okay, let's flip it then. What if I was in a video? Laughin' all up in another nigga face, touchin' on him, whisperin' in his ear? You'd be cool with that?"
Von's jaw clenched instantly. "Man, don't even play with me like that."
"Oh, why not?" she mocked, tilting her head. "It's just work, right?"
His nostrils flared, eyes darkening. "That's different."
Brini let out a humorless laugh. "Oh, it's different now? How, Von? Explain it to me."
He stared at her, silent for a second before shaking his head. "You know why."
"Yeah," she said, voice softer now but still firm. "Because you wouldn't like that shit. So why you think I would?"
Von sighed, rubbing his face. He hated arguing with her—especially over something like this. Brini wasn't just some girl, she was his girl. The one who had been there before all of this, before the money, before the fame.
He stepped closer, his voice dropping, no cameras, no crowd—just them. "Ain't no competition, Brini. It's you. It's always you."
She searched his face, lips pressed together. "Then act like it."
Von smirked a little, shaking his head before pulling her in by the waist, his forehead resting against hers. "You know I love you, right?"
Brini sighed but didn't pull away. "Yeah... but I need to feel it too."
He lifted her chin, making her look at him. "Then let me fix that."
She held his gaze for a moment longer before finally softening. "You better."
Von chuckled, brushing a kiss against her lips before murmuring, "I got you, ma."
And just like that, the storm between them settled. No love lost—just two hearts finding their way back to each other.
