*Back at the hospital*
Dawson was brought out of her thoughts when she heard a quiet sob coming from the someone near the vending machines. Curled up with her back on the drink machine and her face in her hands was Sylvie. Just looking at her Gabby felt empathy for the girl. She felt the same way when Matt was brought to the hospital because of his head injury. Gabby then walked over to Sylvie and sat down next to her. Sylvie saw her walk over and quickly tried wiping the tears away from her already tear soaked face.
"That's not going to work." Gabby told Sylvie with a slight chuckle.
"Huh?" Sylvie was a little confused and embarrassed to of had her superior see her this way.
"I mean hiding how you feel about him." Gabby moved in front of Sylvie and gave her a small smile. "I see the way you look at him, there's no denying it."
"Wait what? No no no, you see me and him are just friends." She was trying her best to cover up her evidence.
"Yea no. What I see is you playing the just friends card. And in the rules of playing the cards of relationships there is no playing that card. It's been banned forever by me."
"Ok, fine. Yes maybe I do like Kelly." Sylvie said as she looked side to side.
"I like that card waaaay better." Gabby said as she pulled Sylvie in for a hug. As Gabby started to pull away she felt Sylvie grip her jacket and cried soft sobs into Gabby's shoulder. Dawson thought just sitting here holding a crying woman wasn't going to help, so she led Sylvie over to a chair in the waiting room. "You know was in your position not that long ago." Gabby softly said to Sylvie
Sylvie looked up at Gabby wondering what she was going to say. She knew that her eyes were red from crying so much but she didn't care. "What do you mean?" She questioned.
"Well there was a house fire and the house was starting to fall apart quickly. There was a baby girl inside still and Matt went to go get the baby. Once he got her and started to the front door, the ceiling collapsed on him. He was unconscious but protected the little baby. After he made it outside I was able to get the baby from him. Unfortunately Matt wasn't ok as I saw him collapse in front of me. Once we took his mask off and saw the blood everyone helped carry him onto the gurney to rush him off to the hospital." Gabby's voice started to fade and all she could do was stare off into the distance thinking about that night. She bit her lip to keep her from releasing a waterfall of tears. "Well in the end he survived or else he wouldn't be here." She let out a soft chuckle.
"What was it like between you two after this all occurred?" Sylvie kept her eyes of Dawson wanting to know more.
"Well, the night before we had just started being together. But after that night it felt like we had been together forever because of what I felt for him. I never want to live a day without him." Dawson looked over to Sylvie to see the young woman have hope in her eyes for the first time since they arrived at the hospital today.
"Thank you Gabby, for everything. I'm glad you're here for for me." She smiled at Dawson and gave her a big hug.
"Hey it's just what friends are for, if you play your cards right." She winked at Sylvie and they both laughed at that. For the first time since they arrived, Sylvie knew things were going to be ok.... Right? Why wouldn't they?
