I put my headphones on. The song had already been taken off Soundcloud after the outcry from the fans. What was he doing?? Releasing a song so soon? With that guy? After all the things he'd said? It just seemed so disrespectful... to the others, I mean. Like he'd been planning it for so long. But couldn't he have waited just a bit? People had told me it didn't even sound finished; like a demo or something. I mean why release it now??
The lo-fi, scratchy sounds took me by surprise. Sweet, simple, almost... folklike. Where was hip-hop Z? DJ Malik? It was what we had come to expect: a player with a big dose of bling. Surely that was what Zayn would become when he finally, one day (pray: never) went solo?
