I walk into the large dinning house were a couple of werewolves were eating. The dinning house was literally the size of a small factory but instead of machines, it was tables. Rows and rows of table. The building itself is brick and on one of the sides was a wall-long window with cafeteria works on the other side serving food. I walk up to the window and pick an apple from one of the baskets located on the window.
I give a small nod to the older cafeteria lady and walk away. I take a seat at one of the wooden benches and take a big bite of the apple. After about fifteen minutes, Ryder comes in.
"Hey. How did it go?" I worriedly ask. Ryder was shaking.
"Um, they got my dragon side out." Ryder sighs, sliding into the bench across from me. He muffles a cry and puts his head onto the table.
I gently pet his ruffled brown hair, "It's alright. You beat them didn't you?"
"Jackson and the other man both attacked me...... The man used a sword and kept saying how I was worthless unless I was a dragon. Jackson finally stopped him, but not before I used my fire powers. Then I ran..." He trembled.
"Hey Ryder. Look up at me." I take both his hands. He looks up and our eye bore into each other. His glossy eyes broke my heart.
"We are going to get through the next challenge together, as a team. This is the largest working pack. They thrive from team work, time to show them a challenge." I softly say, giving a caring smile.
Ryder watery eyes get a new spark in them. Fear was replaced with confidence. He squeezes my hand, "Together."
I hold his eye a second longer. Then a pressure forms in our fingertips. It felt like something heavy was being placed in our fingers. It gets stronger and stronger and heavier and heavier.
"Ah!" We scream as energy bursts into our bodies. The pressure in our finger tips exploding to the rest of our bodies. More and more energy piles into our finger tips until they were shaking. Our bodies shake and our muscles spasm. Our intertwined fingers have more and more pressure in them as we hold each other's eyes. The wind whistled around our ears and grew around us. Some shouts of surprise came from other pack members. The wind began picking up dirt and papers, causing people to run in fear.
"Together!" I whisper in pain as a burning sensation runs across my body. The heat between our hands becomes more and more intensified. My hand catches fire. "Ah!" I hiss, but hold Ryder's eyes.
Ryder's hand was a bright blue flame and mine was red hot. The flames grew up our hand and onto the finger tips. As the flames meet, a spark causes an explosion. The fires merge into one large purple flame that flickers dangerously across our intertwined fingertips. As the fire burned, a new pressure enters our fingertips and it becomes stronger. I gasp as the energy in my fingertips explodes away into Ryder. A new powerful energy replaces it. The new energy flows into my body and I spasm a few more seconds before collapsing onto the table. Our fingers separate as the energy jumps around inside us. I pant as the wind disappears, leaving me and Ryder still holding each other's eyes. His purple eyes held my brown ones as we felt...... connected.
Panting I ask, "W-What happened?"
"I-I-I think we bonded," Ryder states looking up at me and back to his fingertips. I weakly raise myself off from the table, "W-what did you feel?"
"I felt a huge energy pressure form in my fingertips then it disappears and is replaced with a softer, stronger, and confident energy. It flows through me and I feel full of power now." Ryder states, looking at his hands in awe.
"Ya, same.... Except I didn't get that extra power." I pant, still in shock.
Ryder smiles, "Here." His fingertips brush across my arm lightly. I inhale sharply as the new energy I got bursts into life. However, instead of being painful, it was happily mixing with my energy, giving support and more strength to it. My spirit was now mixed with another one. This one gave me strength while I gave support, confidence, and power to the mixed-in spirit.
I gulp, "We bonded. Like a pack bond. But how?!?"
Ryder shrugs looking at me in awe. "You are amazing Syrina."
"What?" I was confused.
"I am feeling your spirit and your energy is flowing through me, as mine is through you. You are very powerful, I can feel it. I'm no longer scared if I go dragon. I feel.... Safe." Ryder looks at me his eyes showing inspiration.
"Um, okay then." I purse my lips and concentrate at what I was feeling. I was feeling.... Strong, I was feeling good, I was feeling.......connected and protected. "This is weird...." I think.
"I agree with you there Syrina." Ryder agrees with my thoughts.
"Um Ryder, I didn't say anything out loud." Then my eyes widen. "Ryder say something in your head!"
"What does she want me to say?" Ryder's voice echoes in my head.
"Ryder! I can hear your thoughts. Look at my lips, they aren't moving, yet you can hear me...." I look at Ryder speaking through my thoughts.
Ryder pales, "Shit. This is like a pack bond!"
I groan, "Exactly what I need. Being connected with a numbskull!"
"Hey!" Ryder exclaims.
I laugh, "I'm just teasing." I look up at the clock. "Oh time to go. Ready to do this?" I ask him, slipping out of the bench.
Ryder smirks, "Together."
"Together." I say mentally.
