Chapter 19- Amnesia

~Haley's P.O.V~

I opened my eyes slowly and let out a small groan. I noticed I was in a cell as I sat up. I turned to see a man and an older man sitting down

"Welcome back" The man said smiling

"How are you feeling?" The older man asked me

"Sore. A bit weak. And my head hurts" I said holding the back of my head

"Well good news it's your gonna be okay" The man said

"So what did I get arrested for?" I asked

The man chucked "What are you talking about"

"I'm sorry but who are you guys?" I asked still holding my head

They looked at me in complete confusion

"Haley, it's us, Rick and Hershel" Be said pointing at one another

"How do you know my name?"

"Let me check your head" Hershel said as he stood up and began checking the back of my head

"How much don't you remember?" Rick asked

"I don't know, where's my brother? And sister? Where am I?"

"Haley it's ok, but everything outside is not like it was before" Rick said

"Rick can I talk to you outside for a second?" Hershel asked as he began walking outside

"What's going on?" I asked

"It's ok Haley" Rick said before walking out. He began talking to a Chinese kid? After they left the Chinese kid walked into the cell

"It's Glenn" He said smiling

"What's going on?" I asked

"Let go take a walk" He said as he helped me up

I was walking slowly outside and saw snarling

"That I do remember, people who aren't people" I said

He nodded "What do you remember?"

"It was just me, my sister, and my brother. These walkers were definitely in the picture by then. Glenn what's going on?"

"I don't know, but Hershel said he thinks you have amnesia. You don't remember any of this?" He asked

"No, none of this looks familar. No one does either"

We were outside in the courtyard when I saw Rick and Hershel walk outside. Along with everyone else. Rick and a little kid opened the gate when a guy walked in. He looked full of sorrow. They closed the gate as he walked in and began walking in my direction but didn't look up. After awhile he did look up.

He looked at me and his eyes lite up. A small smile began to form. He was quite attractive. He first began walking to me then he ran. He grasped me in his arms and hugged me tight. I stood still frozen, feeling pain but I didn't budge. I didn't hug back and he pulled away. He simply looked at me

"Who are you?"

His eyes dropped and his expression completely changed.

~Daryl's P.O.V~

After killing my brother I walked back to the prison in sorrow. Once I made it back Rick opened the gate and I walked in

"Merle?" Rick asked

I shook my head. He patted my shoulder "I'm sorry brother"

I just nodded and walked in. I walked with my head facing down. I walked until I looked up. And once I looked up my heart began beating faster and faster. She's here. She's back. I dropped my crossbow and began walking to her, before I knew it I began to run to her. I embraced her in my arms and hugged her so tightly. I was so happy she was back. My day had from the worse to better. But there was one problem, my day just went from better to way worse. She wasn't hugging back. I pulled away and just looked at her, what was going on why wasn't she hugging back. My eyes never left hers

"Who are you?"

My heart suddenly went to happiness to dropping way down to the ground. What did she just say?

"What" I said in disbelief

"We should all go inside" Rick said as Glenn helped her inside and we all followed

We walked to the cell block as Rick pulled me aside

"Rick what's goin on? Why don't she remember me?" I asked almost pacing around

"She came back. But as we opened the gate she fought off a walker. We were able to kill it but she tripped on rope. Hit her head pretty badly"

I sighed

"We didn't know either until she did the same to us. Hershel checked her head and he's seen this before, amnesia"

"How long does it last?" I asked

"We don't know exactly. But we do know that we have to do everything we can to try to regain her memory"

I looked out in the distance and blanked out for only a few seconds. I simply scoffed "I ain't got time for that" I walked away and back go my cell

~Haley's P.O.V~

Everyone introduced themselves and they seemed really nice. Daryl seemed different though. He left with Rick for a while. Afterwards he came back

"We should get ready for the plan"

Everyone nodded and went their separate ways. I simply stood confused, Maggie approached me and filled me in

"It's happening now?" I asked

She nodded "Come with me, your safe. I promise"

I nodded as I followed her and everyone began getting ready. I watched the man who hugged me near his bike. He looked like a redneck, a very cute and attractive redneck. Carol approached him and they began talking. He seemed so sad. Was it because of me? I walked away from the car and closer to them. I know eavesdropping wasn't good but I couldn't help it

"You know, Merle never did nothing like that his whole life" He spoke

Who's Merle?

"He gave us a chance" Carol said

She held our her hand, he grabbed it and she helped him up. She took one step and they continued to hold hands. They smiled at each other before she walked off.

We're they together?

He grabbed his things and looked up at me. He stared at me. His eyes had mixed emotions, at first I couldn't read them but they suddenly changed. He simply scoffed, rolling his eyes as he walked away. Who was he? Why did he suddenly go from hugging me, being happy to see me to completely ignoring me?

"Haley, come on. We have to go" Beth said to me. I nodded as Beth, Hershel, Judith, Carl, and I entered the car and we took off as they informed me of what was going on.
