Chapter 40- Now there's hope

~Daryl's P.O.V.~

God I really hated these guys. I got full of rage and anger when they hit Haley. But they also attacked me. There wasn't much I could do. But lay there and get beaten. Worst of all hear Haley groaning in pain. And me not being able to do anything about it. I heard muttering from I'm guessing Rick and Joe but I couldn't really hear. They continued to beat me and Haley. I got full of rage then ever before when I heard Haley hit the side of the truck. And it was loud. I looked over to Rick and Joe was full of blood going down. Michonne came over and helped me when she and I killed the rest of the guys. We stood panting when I looked around for my girl. But no Haley. My heart raced and when I turned to see her laying on the ground, blood surrounding her. I ran by her side and felt her pulse. A sigh of relief flew over me when I felt one. She was just knocked out. Cold. We stayed silent for a long time and I sat next to her. The next morning Rick sat against the car while Michonne was inside with Carl asleep on her lap. Haley was inside the car too still unconscious. I approached Rick as I put my crossbow against the car and sat down next to him. I took out a handkerchief and poured water onto it. I passed it to him as he began cleaning his bloody face

"We didn't know what they were" I began to say

Rick nodded "How did you two wind up with them?" He asked turning to look at me

"I was with Beth. We got out together. Was with her for awhile"

We stayed silent for a couple seconds until he spoke "Is she dead?"

"She's just gone. After that. I found Haley on the street. She was on her own for awhile. She made it out with Glenn. But she got separated from him. That's when they found us. I mean, we knew they were bad, but they had a code. It was pretty simple. It was stupid, but it was something. Was enough"

"Everything that happened, it's not on you and Haley, Daryl" Rick said looking at me

I was still looking down

"Hey" He said as I looked up to him "It's not on you. You two being back with us here, now. It's everything"

I looked back down

"Your my brother. And Haley in there is my sister"

I turned look back at him. I nodded slowly. He was right, we went through everything together. We all did. But were still here, still a family. We stayed silent for awhile when we heard Haley's voice. I jumped up and went to the car as I opened the back to reveal Haley laying down. She tried sitting up and she succeeded.

"You okay, how do you feel?" I asked

She rubbed her head and blinked twice before looking at me "Who are you?"

What? No, not again "Hales"

She grabbed my face softly "Oh right, it's my gorgeous, great, badass boyfriend" She smiled

I sighed in relief and smiled "Don't do that"

We kissed before pulling away and I cleaned her semi dry blood from her face

"Come on, let's pack our things and get moving" Rick said as we all nodded

We grabbed things we needed and our weapons when we got on the railroad tracks and headed on foot. We walked for quite some time. Headed to Terminus

"You sure your okay?" I asked Haley as we held hands

"Yea. The beating just made me weaker because of what happened before. Plus it was hard to fight back"

She slightly smiled as I squeezed her hand letting her know everything was now okay

"Do you think there's hope now?" She asked

I looked at her

"Maybe Glenn, Maggie and the others made it there. And now there's hope"

I nodded "Yea. There just might be"

We kept walking when we found a sign on the ground

"We're getting closer" Haley said

"Be there before sundown" I said

"Now we head through the woods. We don't know who they are" Rick said

"But what if Glenn and the others made it there?" Haley asked

"And we will find them" Rick said

We all nodded and headed inside the woods. We made it to the fence we quietly approached. We peeked through the fence to see Terminus written on the building. This is it.

"We all spread out, we watch for awhile. See what we can see, and then we get ready. We all need to stay close" Rick said

We nodded and parted ways. I went with Haley. And Michonne went with Carl. We later approached Rick who was burying a bag of guns into the ground. He buried it then we went over the fence. We kept our eyes and ears open. We opened the door and walked in with me leading. We heard a women's voice speaking. I led us in when we saw a big whole room. People were around with boards and a women was repeating the same thing over and over again.

"Hello" Rick announced

Guess they haven't noticed us before. We all stood in a line as I was close to Haley holding her hand and not letting her go.

"Well, I bet Albert is on perimeter watch" A man said putting down a pencil

He approached us "You here to rob us?"

"No" I said

"We wanted to see you before you saw us" Rick said as we all held our weapons out. Just in case

The man took a couple steps to us "Well. Welcome to Terminus"

He gave us a big smile and looked at Haley. Anger began to boil inside of me. Great, here is another pervert. I don't like this place no more. But there was nothing I can do to get out of this. This place can't be what it seems to be
