I'm going into 9th grade soon, and I'm really excited. For my summer homework, I have to read this book called A Memoir: A Bad Boy by Watler Dean Myers. Believe me, I HATE non-fiction, besides history books. But this has to be one of the best non-fics I have ever read.

He was so proud of himself and he thought education would break him free from this stereotypical black image. Just like me, I am still trying to find myself, yet I keep on being stuck in this box of racism. When I was younger I use to think that I can do anything I put my mind to and no one would judge me. No one would feel offended, but now I'm stuck in this box. And as every teens dream, weather they say it or not, is to be considered cool.

My race has this vision of cool and I don't seem to fit it. All I want to do is to be my own person.

But I'm still stuck in this box, an stereotype image of a pastors daughter and black person, and a girl. I don't want to fit into the crowd, I want to be different. However, I want to have friends that see no fault within me, just likes to be around me for me. Like I don't have to put up a front for them to like me or try to change me, to be the perfect friend.

The other day I took a quiz it said:

"Your view on yourself:

You are intelligent, honest and sweet. You are friendly to everybody and don't like conflict. Because you're so cheerful and fun people are naturally attracted to you and like to talk to you.

The type of girlfriend/boyfriend you are looking for:

You are a true romantic. When you are in love, you will do anything and everything to keep your love true.

Your readiness to commit to a relationship:

You prefer to get to know a person very well before deciding whether you will commit to the relationship.

The seriousness of your love:

Your have very sensible tactics when approaching the opposite sex. In many ways people find your straightforwardness attractive, so you will find yourself with plenty of dates.

Your views on education

Education is very important in life. You want to study hard and learn as much as you can.

The right job for you:

You're a practical person and will choose a secure job with a steady income. Knowing what you like to do is important. Find a regular job doing just that and you'll be set for life.

How do you view success:

You are confident that you will be successful in your chosen career and nothing will stop you from trying.

What are you most afraid of:

You are concerned about your image and the way others see you. This means that you try very hard to be accepted by other people. It's time for you to believe in who you are, not what you wear.

Who is your true self:

You like privacy very much because you enjoy spending time with your own thoughts. You like to disappear when you cannot find solutions to your own problems, but you would feel better if you learned to share your thoughts with a person you trust."

The highlighted part is the thing I never thought a quiz would ever fin out about me. I don't want to be a stereotype, because every time I try to fit into the status quot I end up looking like a fool.

There is this one friend I have, he likes me when I was 100% Deborah, but when I changed myself a little bit, he started to pull away. I showed him this quiz paper and he said it is true but he didn't like that highlighted part.

This makes me feel better about myself, at least one person likes me for who I am and doesn't want me to change a bit. I only wished that he would be going to high school with me, I need a person like that to be a constant in my life.

Because, life is what you make it. I don't want any regrets, I just want to live my life to the fullest.
