Chapter Fifteen

Facing the screaming crowd isn't as bad as you initially thought it was going to be. There's a large group of policemen waiting at the station, forming a barricade between you and the fans, so you and the lads can walk by without too much hassle. It's a great relief, but there's still a worrying feeling in the pit of your stomach that you can't get rid of.

Before you jump off the train Paul takes your hand and squeezes it tight. 

"Don't worry," he whispers, "I've got you."

You blush to the roots of your hair, but you still manage to politely thank Paul. He smiles brightly and leads you down the platform, the other Beatles following close behind. The noise that rises when you approach the fans is horrendous. They let out a series of the most ghastly screams and shouts until it feels like your eardrums are going to burst. You shrink closer to Paul, completely overwhelmed.

"I love you, John!" someone screams.

"Sign my autograph book, George! Please!" another voice pleads.

"I'm your number one fan, lads! Always and forever!"

You recognise the voice of this overly excited girl. It's your friend from school and Beatles fanatic, Caroline! You remember her telling you that she was going t see The Beatles when they arrived in town, but you never actually believed her. Yet here she is, screaming her head off right beside you. She's in such a wild frenzy that she hasn't noticed you yet.

You can't help smiling. If Caroline saw you holding hands with Paul McCartney (who happens to be her favourite member of the band) she would turn green with envy. You consider waving to her but suddenly remember something. Caroline is also the jealous type and would probably give you the cold shoulder at school tomorrow.

You bite your lip. You and the lads are quickly approaching the squealing Caroline. 

If you duck behind Paul and try to to avoid Caroline, go to Chapter Sixteen.

If you take the risk and wave to Caroline, go to Chapter Seventeen.
