Chapter Twenty-Three

You frantically look for a place to hide and dive into an open storage cupboard. John doesn't seem to notice that you've disappeared. He's more interested in cheeking Brian and badgering Paul than wondering where you've got to. You're a bit hurt about this but it's much better than getting shouted at by someone's grumpy manager. It's much safer in the cupboard.

You begin to worry when John hasn't come to collect you after about twenty minutes. Surely he's noticed you've gone missing. You panic and try rattling on the door handle, but it breaks away in your hand! There's no other way out of the cupboard, and you can't bust the door down either. There's nothing heavy enough in the cupboard to use as a battering ram.

You peer through the keyhole and catch a glimpse of the lads. They're busy setting up their instruments, tuning guitars, and flirting with the female stagehands. Even John is busy soft soaping a pretty blonde woman, making her giggle and blush.

"Harsh," you think. Then you realize something worse.

You're trapped.

You sit down on the floor and start sobbing, wondering what you did to deserve your fate.

You had no sense of adventure, stupid! You chose to hide in a cupboard instead of facing Brian and getting to see The Beatles perform live! Their manager is a little grumpy but he's certainly not scary.

It's too late now. You're trapped in a cupboard.

Why did you even choose this path?
