Picture is the high school they go to Westfield High^^^^^
"Hey girl i'm waitin on ya...i'm waitin on ya come on and let me sneak you out!" my alarm clock blasted right by my ear. "ugh," I groan as I sluggishly get out of bed. I'm so not ready for school today! (just because i'm a "nerd" and get straight a's doesn't mean that i actually like school) But its Friday, the one and only day that I treasure about school. Friday's the day when the teachers all give us study halls for thanking us for "working hard" but really I think its just because it's Friday and they are too lazy to plan anything when the weekend is 9 hours away. As I get dressed I couldn't help but notice that there was no noise at all coming from down stairs, after I got completely ready I carefully walked down the stairs making sure that i skipped the parts where I knew it would creak.
After I got down the stairs I walked into the kitchen and as I went to the fridge to grab a granola bar (don't judge... that's where I store them). But while I was eating my breakfast I skimmed the kitchen and it was completely clean...hmm. I suspiciously went into the living/dining room and there was no trace of my dad at all. That's really strange, I thought to myself as I walked across the whole house until I looked into every single room until the bathroom was the only room left, and when I opened the door I saw my "father" sprawled across the bath with a beer dangling from his hand.
That's no surprise to that so I just closed the door and went back to doing my usual morning routine, periodically checking on him to make sure that he's at least still breathing, which he was. Don't get me wrong, I love my dad but sometimes he would just go back to how he was before mom passed. I tried to talk to him about it but all he does is either leaves and goes back down to the basement to drink or he'll slap me and storm off. Either way there's no progress made at all, so I just gave up and let him do his thing and i do mine. Well except for when he decides to invade my space and does things like he did the other night (last chapter).
I looked over at the clock and saw that I was already 3 minutes passed so i quickly grabbed my things which included my busted up back pack, purse, keys, and my phone. And quickly got into my black Chevy camaro and drove off to school.
10 minutes later I was pulling into the wonderful world that teenagers call High School. Westfield High, or as many people call it the torture chamber, I call it "my ticket to Harvard." As usual i pull into a random parking spot in the gigantic parking lot of the school, but when i got out with all of my stuff in hand I couldn't help but notice that everyone in the parking lot was staring at me, and I had no idea why. I tried to ignore it and I thought that the best way was just to walk to the school with my head down and my hair covering my face.
After I had safely made it into the school I went straight to my locker but occasionally bumped into some random people with the names of God knows what, but after about 3 minutes of walking in a straight line I had finally made it to my locker.
"Heeeyyyyyyy!" screamed my amazing friend Abby Meyers. Abby's one of the cheerleaders and is a starter on the varsity volleyball team. She's got everything that a girl could offer; sporty, beautiful, smart, witty, and funny. She has beach blonde hair with a beautiful wave and green blue eyes. Where as I am pretty much athletic and smart, and I don't even play any school sports, I mostly play on my own time when i'm not cleaning the house, cooking food for dad and I, and watching over him.
"Hey Abbs, what's up you seem a little extra excited today." I said even though i'm pretty sure that I already know what she's going to tell me, she probably already got a date for homecoming.
"I got asked to Homecoming!!!!" she said, (did I guess it or what) excitement full in her voice, and to top it off you could even see the excitement in her eyes. They were pretty much full on glowing.
"That's amazing! Abbs who asked you this year?!"
"Zane!" she pretty much screamed... Wait what??!! Like Zane from the football team? Zane that made fun of me the other day?
What?!?!" I yelled, mostly out of shock but also out of pure disgust and hate. I couldn't tell her what she did because she seems so excited right now and over all really happy that he asked her to be his date to homecoming.
"I know right!!! I really didn't think that he even knew I existed! (yeah right) But he pulled me aside after school and he just straight up said that he liked me and wanted to go to the dance with me!" I can't even believe it, Zane doesn't seem like the guy to just pull aside a girl and randomly asking a girl. He has never showed any affection towards Abby ever before so why is he saying that he likes her if he probably doesn't even know anything about her. But I had to act like I was happy, for Abby. She's always got my back but even though I don't really like her date i can put up a smile and be happy for her. I was happy just not with her choice of date.
"I'm so happy that someone asked you Abby! You'll have an amazing time," I told her truthfully but I knew she wants me to go find a date also
"Thanks Em, now we just have to find you a date and we'll be good to go."
"No, I really don't need a date just to go to a dance. I'll be okay, I didn't go with a date last year." Truthfully I haven't had a date for a dance since freshman year when my boyfriend dumped me because of a college girl he met at a party, a party that he took me to for our 1 year anniversary. To say I was upset was an understatement, I cried my eyes out for a week and a half and still I am a little upset about it."Yeah, but this is our senior year Em! you have to go with a date!" she exclaimed but I could tell that she was going to give up on finding me a date and she'll just go with hers. She's persistent but not as persistent as me.
Beeeeeeeeeeeepppppppp
The bell rang signaling that it's time to head to class, can you say saved by the bell or what.
"This conversation isn't over Em!" Abby yelled as she descended down the stairs to get to her next class. Her and I both knew that in this battle I would be the one winning and going alone, that may not sound like a win for me but I really don't want to go with a date because I know that all the guys at our school want one thing... and I have no intention of doing that anytime soon.
