“I’m completely done now Josh. Done with relationships and marriage,” Nick admitted as he read over the divorce papers, seeing his wife’s signature already on the bottom of the page.  He had devoted ten years of his life to Isabelle. He went to the same college as her because she wanted him to. He gave up football; he gave up all his dreams because he only wanted Isabelle by his side for the rest of his life. They started dating at 17, married at 21 and now divorcing at 27; all because Isabelle fell in love with her personal assistant.

Josh knew that Nick’s heart was completely shattered. Isabelle was Nick’s life, now she was gone and Nick was a hollow shell. Completely devoid of any emotion that would lead to love. “What are you going to do now?” Josh asked.

“Well I’m going to do all the things I’ve missed out on because I wasted my younger years on that heartless bitch.” Nick admitted, signing the paper angrily and shoving it into the envelope and handing it to Isabelle’s lawyer.

“Thank you Mr Jonas.” The lawyer spoke, before putting the envelope in her bag and standing up. “I’ll see myself out.”

As soon as Nick heard the front door shut he stood up. “But first I better get off to work.” He sighed.  He grabbed his jacket and brief case and turned to Josh. “We should go out, and celebrate.” Nick smiled.

Josh looked at Nick wearily, even though Nick’s words were strong, he could still see the upset and betrayal in his eyes. Nick was never good at hiding his feelings, his eyes were the windows to his soul. “Are you sure?” He asked.

“Of course I am! I want to get drunk off my ass. I haven’t touched alcohol since I met Isabelle.” He admitted, his heart still sinking every time he spoke her name. He was angry, yes. He was furious! But he still knew that he loved her, and he needed to change that. He needed to get over her.

“Alright then, I’ll pick you up after work.” Josh spoke, grabbing his car keys. Josh noticed that Nick’s eyes were focused on the car keys in Josh’s hand before they travelled to the floor, a frown on Nick’s face now. “She took the car, didn’t she?” He asked. Nick nodded. “Well do you want me to drop you off at work?” He asked.

“No, I’ll walk.” He told Josh.

Selena rushed out of her flat in such a hurry. Her first day at her new job and she was already running late. Her car wouldn’t start and Selena had no time to get someone out to look at it and fix it so she took to the sidewalk and scurried to work as quickly as possible.

Selena was new to the city, she moved here with her best friend Jen. Jennifer wanted to pursue her dream career that their little town could not provide her. So they worked together as soon as they left college and saved up enough money to move a city which allowed Jennifer to get her dream job.

Selena was a hairdresser, a job that could be found in any city or town. So she followed Jennifer out here so they could both live in a big city, an experience they both craved. Small towns were okay, but everyone knew everyone and it made Selena claustrophobic. She always wanted to be a city girl, and now she was.

Selena weaved through the clusters of people as she hit the high street, trying to get to work as quickly as possible. She looked down at her watch to see how long she had left and then was suddenly covered in a hot substance, her body thrown backwards.

Nick stood frozen as he looked down at the petite brunette who was now wearing his coffee. “Are you alright?” He asked, watching her pull at her clothes.

“I’m fine.” She winced, trying to stop her skin from burning as she pulled her hot and wet top away that clung to her skin.

“You really need to change out of that top. Come on.” He admitted, opening the coffee shop door.

“I haven’t got a spare shirt.” She sighed, looking up at the curly haired man.

“Don’t worry; I’ve got a shirt in my bag you could wear.” He told her as she nodded and walked into the coffee shop. Nick showed her to the bathroom and pulled out a black women’s shirt from his suitcase.

“Errm thanks?” Selena spoke, looking up at him sceptically. What kind of man carries around a women’s shirt? She thought to herself.

Nick saw her look and rolled his eyes. “It’s my ex-wife’s; I always had to carry a spare shirt in my bag for her because she’s a painter.” He explained as Selena nodded and disappeared into the bathroom.

When she emerged she was stuffing her wet shirt into her bag. “Thanks for the shirt.” She smiled.

“No problem.” Nick answered back. She was cute when she smiled, he thought before he dismissed it immediately.

“I suppose I should buy you a new coffee seeing as I ended up wearing your last one.” She giggled, her mood increasing now she wasn’t on fire anymore.

“There’s no need.” He told her.

“I insist.” She replied back, going to the back of the queue.
