Chapter 2

• Later that day•

Ayan's POV.

I pulled up in front of Laila's house and honked my horn. I saw Laila run outside with her scarf barely on. She jumped into the back seat since Safiya was already in the front. We were all wearing scarfs on our heads due to our Islamic religion.

"Oh, Safiya I forgot to ask you, when is the concert" I asked. "This Friday night" she answered. Great now I had to wait five days. Well almost four since Monday is almost over.

"Guys, I just realized something what are we gonna tell our parents? " Laila asked. "Wait, she's right we can't say we're at the library because its closed and I doubt are parents would believe we are shopping for that long and late especially since that's what we're doing right now" I pointed out. "Um... I forgot to mention something. The concerts in Cleveland" Safiya said. "What!" Laila and I both screamed. "You can't expect us to drive to drive two hours there and back. We won't be home till like 1 in the morning depending on when the meet and greet ends" I said.

"That's it I got it! My cousin lives there and you guys could say she wanted me to visit but I didn't want to go alone " Safiya said. I nodded my head that was a good idea. " I don't know. My mom might say no" Laila said. "C'mon, you're eighteen years old u think you're mom would at least consider it" I said. "Fine" she said.

"Hey mom, can I go up to Cleveland tomorrow night?" she asked. "Put it in speaker" Safiya whispered. When she did we heard her mom answer. "Why?"she asked. "Safiya's cousin wants her to come but she doesn't want to go alone" she answered. The phone was quiet for a minute then she answered. "Just this once".

"Thank you" Laila said then she hung up. Then she started jumping in her seat and squealed this very high pitches scream. "Dang Laila, and you call us girlies" I said.
