tyler opens his eyes, slowly. his breath is weak, but he's alive. he's stayed alive.

he looks around, the morning light stinging his eyes. the sun rises slowly from its grave, coming to life.
and then he hears a gentle humming to his left, and his vision flickers briefly. but he looks over.
he sees josh.
takes in his ocean-blue hair.
his brown eyes.
the tears dried on his cheeks.
the smile that's still there. the smile that's always been there. josh grips the steering wheel loosely, unaware that tyler's woken up.
