Surprises

Zayne

I bit my lip looking down at my feet. She walked up to me, surprise covering her face.

"Hey, I didn't expect this to be from you." She whispered a small smile on her lips.

"I wanted to show you I really want to get to know you." I said smirking at the fact she looked happy.

"This was really sweet of you." She said accepting the roses I offered.

"You look beautiful." I assured her when I noticed her hand touching her hair.

"Thank you." She said smiling wider than before.

I held out my arm. "Ready for dinner?"

"Yes." She said, latching her arm with mine.

We entered the five star restaurant and the man at the podium smiled at us. "Hello! Do you have a reservation?"

"Yes, under Z." I said.

The man's eyes widen before nodding. "Yes, yes. Right this way."

We hurried towards the table but I didn't like it. I felt exposed. It was in the middle of the room with neither chair facing the door.

"Excuse me, I ain't feelin' this table. I need a new one." I spoke to him, slowly.

"Zayne, you can't just expect them to find you another table." Syke said smacking my arm.

"I'm so sorry, pick any table and we will clear it for you instantly." He said, obviously sweating.

Perks of being a well-known kingpin.

"I want that booth in the corner by the plants and facing the door." I said.

There was a couple sitting in the booth. The man was a bald, caramel skinned, muscular guy who was smirking at his snow bunny. She was anorexic thin, long blonde hair, and her legs were stick thin. She looked unhealthy thin.

I followed the man towards the booth. He shook his head at what he had to do before gently clearing his throat.

"I'm so sorry, you have to go. This table is reserved for someone else." He said.

The man looked confused, "I reserved this table. And I should be able to sit here until me and my date are finished eating."

I looked at her plate and saw a salad, which looked untouched while his plate was already cleaned.

"I'm very sorry but you have to leave." He said, nervously looking back at me.
"Who the hell are you?" He asked.

I smirked, "Z."

"And what's that supposed to mean?" The girl asked, smacking her heavily glossed lips.

"Nope, get up. We gotta go now." He said.

"What? Why?" She said, her voice nasally and high pitched.

He snatched her up by her arm while a busboy cleared the table quickly.

"Here you go." The man said.

"Thank you." I said, smiling while sitting across from Skye.

"Who is Z?" Skye asked.

She didn't know who Z was? Even after I lied and said I sold drugs for Z? Should I be insulted?

"Nobody baby. What do you want to drink? Wine or champagne?" I changed the subject smoothly.

"Champagne is fine." She said studying my face.

I cleared my throat after ordering our bottle, "So, Skylander. Where did that name come from?"
