A Single Shot

Zayne

I sat by Banks bed that night with Skye by my side. No matter how much I insisted that she go sleep in the bed, she refused to leave me by myself.

That made me love her even more.

I woke up to the smell of bacon, eggs, and waffles which were presented in front of me. I had a sore neck from sleeping in a chair all night but the food made everything better.

"I also made some coffee for you." Skye said, handing me the coffee black just like I liked it.

"Thank you beautiful." I said, my eyes looking over at Banks.

He was unconscious but his chest was rising and falling on a steady pattern. Skye sat next to me and watched me eat, before sighing and looking at Banks.

"I'm sorry for your friend." She said, "I'm going to go get in the shower right quick."

I nodded, wishing he'd wake up and laugh. Tell me he good and to let him out of the bed. I sighed, finishing the food and taking it to the kitchen.

I heard the shower going when I passed the bathroom and I knew Skye was safely inside. I went back into the room and decided to take a shower myself.

Skye had gotten used to not using the bedroom bathroom. Saying it didn't get hot enough even though it got hotter than the hall shower. Boxes of unpacked clothes and shoes were still littered all over the floor.

I grabbed my towel and wash cloth before getting into the warm shower. My body was sore and achy from sleeping in the damn chair all night. My thoughts were everywhere. I had to kill these niggas who did this to Banks.

If they rolled up on him and filled his car with bullet holes but only hit him once. Why was this so mediocre? I mean how do you fill a car with bullets and only him  once?

Whoever did this was amateur. They didn't get skilled gunmen, I mean the only smart thing they did was wait until he was in an isolated location to strike.

And how was Banks able to hold off and kill some of their men? He was one person and there were a lot of them. It didn't make sense.

None once so ever. I got out of the shower and got dressed, walking back into Banks room.

My heart stopped. I was shocked. I couldn't breathe.

Banks was talking to Skye, who was smiling. I heard the conversation.

"Yeah I'm good. My shoulder hurts like a bitch though." Banks said.

"Zayne will be so happy you're not dead." She said before frowning. "That came out and sounded terrible. I'm so sorry."

Banks laughed, "No problem. You got some food and pain killers? Where is Zayne anyways?"

"Right here." I said, walking into the room.

He rose his left arm and tried to dap but winced in pain. "Shit, that fucking hurt."

"You good?" I asked, laughing even though I felt terrible he got shot.

"Yeah man." He said, rubbing his shoulder with his hand while Skye scampered off go get the food and pain killers.

"What happened? I mean, I think I got an idea but.." I said, looking him the eyes.

"I was driving through the back ways. You know that's how I like to get around. And I saw a car following me and I drove away, tryna shake them. That's when I texted y'all. Them niggas drove by and filled my car up with bullets but missed me completely. They hit an u turn and I shot them before I got shot in the shoulder but I kept shooting." He said, "I don't know what happened after that. I think I passed out."

"Do you wonder why or how they empty clips into the car but only hit you one time?" I asked.

"They looked young. Barely over 15." He said, thinking back. "They drove great."

I nodded when Skye brought in a plate of food and a cup of orange juice. "I brought you some advil but I don't know if those are strong enough to keep the pain away.."

"Thank you." Banks said, laughing. "You got you a good woman." He said, looking at me.

I nodded before smirking at Skye, "I know."

Later On..

Banks demanded to come with us while we made this deal. Some nigga said he had information on who wanted to shoot Banks and we had to get it.

We pulled up at the empty Marina. I wasn't sure if we were walking into a trap and if so, I did have some soldiers waiting down the street. If they heard any shots, they'd be on they way.

We saw a single man, standing agaisnt the railing where the abandoned place meets the water. He looked at it before turning to us.

He looked oddly familiar but not enough for me to place him. He walked funny and slow. Like he couldn't bend his knees.

"I know who wants him dead." He said, sweeping his eyes over us. "He wants all of you dead."

"Who is it?" I asked.

"It'll cost you." He said.

"How much?" I asked.

"2 g's." He said.

I nodded, taking out the money and showing it to him. He nodded and stepped closer to me.

"His name is Blaze. I don't know if that's his street name or real name but everyone calls him Blaze." The man said.

"Where does he live at?" I asked.

"That'll cost you more." He said.

"Or it'll cost you your life." I said, tired of his games and aiming a gun directly at his face.

"He lives on the West side. I don't know exactly where he lives but he just lives on the West side somewhere." He said. "If you don't pay me then I'll snitch."

I squeezed the trigger and watched his body fall over the railing. Six cars came speeding into the parking lot and I held my hand up.

They backed away once they realized it was me. We got into the car and Montana looked back at me.

"We'll have to kill him." He said, looking back at me.

"I know. But we need more information." I said.
