A Month Later...

Head In The Game

Zayne

Bullets whizzed past my body, coming real close to piercing it. Tubby pulled me down and smacked me hard.

"Get your fucking head in the game. These niggas is really tryna kill us. I ain't tryna bury my best friend!" She shouted.

I nodded, standing up and aiming once again. These niggas tried to rob me at this deal but there was only 5 of us and over 15 of them.

I shot a man in his right leg before shooting him in the face as he fell. I shot another in the head from behind.

"There you fucking go." Tubby said, shooting from beside me.

Montana and Banks were a few feet away from us, shooting at the opposing men. Fi was on the top rafters of the factory, shooting with an semi automatic weapon.

She was mowing them down in sweeping lines before half of them even had the chance to come towards us.

"Duck." I told Tubby, shooting the man trying to sneak up behind her in the head before he knew what happened.

She pushed me aside, shooting the three men behind me with Banks help. "We need to get the fuck out of here."

"We do because you keep drifting in and out of your fucking thoughts. I ain't tryna fuckin' bury you nigga." Tubby said, grabbing my face in her hands. "This isn't the time to think about Skye."

I nodded, taking her words seriously. She was right. Thinking about how to get Skye back won't do me no good if I die.

"Yo, we need to retreat!" I yelled towards Montana and Banks. They nodded and ran to get the briefcases of our product and their money. "I'm going to go get Fi. You go start the car and wait for us." I told Tubby.

I began to run up the stairs to my left while Fi, confusion written on her face as she covered me. "We need to go! Too many of them!"

A bullet flew my face so close, it grazed my forehead. I instantly ducked, "We have to go!"

She nodded, grabbing her weapon and aiming it at the man who almost shot me. We ran down the stairs and saw Banks and Montana running out the door, firing shots wildly behind them.

There was an army of men still down there. I was wrong, there had to be more than 30 of them left. How many were there? How were we gonna get out?

"Z, I'm almost out of bullets." Fi said, "I don't have enough to take that crowd down."

"Me either." I responded, watching from behind the crates.

Blood ran down my face but that was the least of my worries. I was worried about the men downstairs. I knew Tubby would never abandon me. But how would I make it out to Tubby and them?

Fi and I aimed at the the men, taking them out slowly. They began to look around for the source of the bullets and randomly shot in directions.

Fi was almost hit and she rolled over before the bullet hit her. I wiped the blood from my face and shot the man who almost shot her. I shot men until my gun clicked.

"I'm out." I told Fi.

She shot a few more men before her gun clicked too. "Same."

Just then I heard a crashing sound from the wall closest to us. Tubby had drove through the wall and they all were taking down men. We ran down the stairs before jumping over the edge and ran towards the truck. I jumped in pulling Fi behind me while Tubby drove forwards before we even closed the door.

The back windows had already been shot out and we couldn't afford to let them shoot anymore out for fear of them shooting one of us.

Tubby swerved until we were on the highway, too far for them shoot at us anymore. Tubby looked at my head and shook hers.

"Get your head in the game. If it was, this wouldn't have happened at all." She said pulling up to my house a while later.

We all went inside and Tubby cleaned my graze wound. "You really liked this girl?" She asked placing a small bandaid over the wound.

"I think I more than liked her." I admitted, "She's driving me crazy. She's all that's on my mind and the image of her heartbroken face is hurting me."

"Mmm, you fucked up. Question is if you got her back, would you just play her again?" Tubby asked.

"Of course not." I said, "My heart couldn't take this again."

"And too think I used to think you didn't have a heart." She said laughing.

I didn't laugh with her. I really liked Skye. But did she like me still? Had she moved on? Would she believe me if I said I wouldn't do it again?

I really wouldn't.

At The Bunny...

Skye and Rio hadn't quit their jobs, thankfully. Skye was performing her set on stage, her eyes anywhere but meeting mine. I knew she felt the glare burning through her skull.

She collected her money and went into the dressing room. I followed her and saw her counting her money. She had been a lot quieter than usual when she spoke to me. She barely paid any attention to me when she gave me the money.

"Only here's your cut." And handed me the money.

Any time I started a conversation with her, she ignored me. Rio mugged me and I knew she would probably punch me again if she could.

But I really did change. Girls threw themselves at me but I didn't want any of them. I only want Skye.

Rio was on the stage and I walked towards Skye. She looked up at me and her eyes casted downward.

"I miss you, Skylander." I whispered and she shivered before scooting away from me.

"Skye please talk to me. Please." I begged.

The other strippers watched discreetly except Stormy, who watched with a glare.

"Leave me alone, Zayne." Skye said, not meeting my eyes.

"So you're telling me you don't think about me still? That you don't still want to be with me?"

"But you had me out here looking like fool! You don't respect me and I refuse to be with anyone who doesn't respect me." She said.

"I do respect you. Please." I begged, looking into her pretty brown eyes.

She stood and walked away from me, leaving me staring at her retreating form.
