A Few Days

Skye [double Skye to make up for the double Zayne a few chapters back.]

I looked over my shoulder, watching Zayne watch me. She came up behind me before grabbing my waist and pulling me into her.

"You're never here anymore." Zayne said.

"I'm always here." I said.

"No you're not. Your mind isn't in the right place." She said.

I didn't respond. I looked down at the ground. "My moms birthday is on Wednesday."

She didn't respond. She just wrapped her hands around me tighter. We stood on the balcony, the early November winds blowing against my skin. Goosebumps were risen on my skin, causing me to shiver. The starless night was broadcasted across the sky, very black and very empty. The new moon didn't give off any light at all.

"What do you normally do on her birthday?" She asked after a few moments of silence.

"Buy her flowers and take them to her grave. Talk to her grave. Update her on my life. Buy a cupcake of her favorite flavor and leave it on her tombstone with a candle for the wind to blow out." I said.

Zayne nodded, "As long as you come see my mom with me on Thanksgiving, then I'll join you on your moms birthday."

"Deal." I whispered, looking down at the driveway.

"I love you." she whispered against my ear.

"I love you too." I said, turning in her arms.

I shivered against her arms, watching her lean towards me and kiss me. I smiled up at her, wrapping my arms around her neck and her holding my waist. She pulled me inside the house, instantly warming me up.

"What's your favorite memory of your mom?" She asked, me on her lap with her arms around me.

"Not too long after my dad got hooked to drugs, my dad had went to "rehab" and was supposed to come get me for the weekend. I waited for hours but he never came. My mom went and got the worst bootleg movies possible and my favorite snack; Fritos & butter pecan ice cream, hot funyuns, Sierra Mist, and some gummy worms. We spent the night on the worn couch in the living room, feasting on snacks and trying to make out what the hell was going on with the TV. Easily best night of my life." I said, wiping away the tears that pooled in my eyes.

"That sounds fun." She said, "I don't have a memory like that."

"What's your favorite memory?" I asked.

"In general or family?" She asked.

"Both."

"In general, my favorite memory is meeting Tubby. I dated her before she cut her hair off and started dressing like boy. She was real cute back then; long black hair, brown eyes, and a nice curvy body. She was a small time drug dealer who had just started. Uncle Tony was tryna teach me the ropes of selling on the street and I seen her. Uncle Tony was like yo go to talk her. She look fine. So I did and I spat what I thought was game. It was so funny cuh lookin back on it, I ain't have no game at all. I was all like wassup shawty? And she was like the sky. The fuck you want? And I was you. And then I used this cheesy pickup line. Shit is hilarious now. Been my right hand since then. Even took 3 years in jail for me." She said.

She didn't really tell me the memory but listening to her laughter was enough to make me happier.

"With my family? Was probably before my daddy got killed. It was rare that we'd all sit down for dinner together but my mom tried to enforce it on Sunday's. She'd cook big ass meals of fried chicken, collard greens, macaroni and cheese, biscuits, peach cobbler, and all. But my mom used to be so mad because my dad would always be 40 minutes late with an excuse. And then he'd eat half of the dinner cold in the living room with me next to him. We'd watch the game, drink beer, and he'd tell me about his day. About all of the people he had to kill, drugs he sold, and how he almost died. I loved it. My mom hated it. It was a lot she hated about my dad." Zayne said, sighing.

The Morning... [I accidentally switched to Zayne and didn't realize until after I was finished with this chapter and rereading it. Sorry.]

Zayne POV

"I made breakfast." Rio said, cleaning the kitchen.

Her & Tubby were still here because they didn't annoy Skye. Rio had made something that was sitting in front of Tubby. She was wolfing it down like it wasn't a tomorrow.

"What is it?" I asked, watching Skye make her some food in a bowl.

"Avena." Rio said, "Basically cinnamon oatmeal."

"Oh." I said, making myself a bowl of oatmeal with peaches in it much like the food in Skye's bowl.

"This is so fucking good. I love you, bitch." Skye said.

I laughed, "I love you too."

Rio rolled her eyes, "I love you more Skye."

"You wish." Skye said before stuffing her mouth. "Oatmeal never tasted better."

Rio chuckled, "Sex never felt better." She sung off key. "Nah farr though. Shit was bomb as fuck last night."

"Not while I'm eating bitch." Skye said, finishing her bowl in minutes.

"Girl shut up. Don't act like I don't give you all the details." Rio laughed at Tubby who looked at Skye.

Skye smirked, "Yeah, I know all about you. Nasty ass."

Tubby looked bashful with a light blush on her face. Rio kissed her, "Don't be embarrassed. You do one hell of a job. Plus I know all about Zayne as well."

It was my turn to look bashful but instead I just smirked. "I do a good job don't I?"

Rio laughed, "I don't know. Does she Skye?"

Skye hit Rio on the arm, "You do magnificent."

"Mmm, don't I know it." I said, kissing Skye on the lips.

"Ew." Tubby said, throwing her spoon at me. "Don't nobody wanna see you feeling on her booty."

I chuckled, "Throw something else at me, ima fuck you up."

"Nasty asses. I bet y'all fucked on this table before." Tubby said.

Skye blushed and looked away towards the sink. Rio laughed like she already knew and gave us a look.

"We did lil nigga." I said, watching her hop up.

"Fuck boy." She grunted, putting the bowl in the sink.

"That's why I sit at the breakfast bar." Rio said, laughing again.

"And you didn't think to tell me?" Tubby asked.

"I thought you knew. You and Zayne don't talk about shit like that?" Rio asked.

"Nah, not in detail anyways." I answered, watching Skye load the dishwasher.

"Name a song that reminds you of me." Rio said, out of the blue.

"What?" Tubby asked.

"My main by Mila J." Skye said, finishing off the dishes.

"Yas bitch. I was go say that, if you had asked." Rio looked to Tubby expectantly.

"Ghetto by August Alsina." Tubby said, licking her lips.

Rio looked at me and I looked at her. I chuckled, raising my shoulders in a shrugging movement. She rolled her eyes, mumbling something under her breath.

"On another note, y'all been here for two weeks. I don't think they go be breaking in anytime soon." I said, "Y'all can leave matter of fact."

"A'ight. Well be gone tonight." Rio said, sitting on the couch and turning on my TV. "But for now, its time for reruns of Love & Hip Hop."

EOC! I hope you enjoyed this chapter. It was meant to show how comfortable Zayne & Skye are. How good of friends they all are. And how their relationships have grown. And it's also kind of a filler chapter.
