Though today started
Like any other day
Something was different
A friend asked about you
And for a split second
Your name didn't mean
Anything to me
And then I remembered
Who you are
Who you were
Who you will
Never be
Again to me
I will forget you
Your hold on me
Is not as strong
As you think
I'm already laughing
About other things
Have plans
With other people
You are no longer
Part of me
I will forget you
You might have
Been a first
Of many
But you aren't
The last
Of all
In the book of yesterday
Your pages
Get dusty
Abandoned
Discarded
Forgotten
The thread of you
To me
Has been cut
Severed forever
I have drifted away
You no longer
Have any force-field
Over me
I'm not yours
Never again
Will I be yours
I am mine
Someday
I will be
Someone else's
You and I
No longer
Two halves
Of a whole
I will forget you
And be happier
For it
