Chapter 29

"Thanks for the dinner, Kate." I said smiling at Nick's mom. We were heading out. Dinner was pretty good. Kate can cook. Brad kept saying perverted jokes during dinner to freak me out. Little does he know that I invented half of those jokes.

"Oh, it was nothing. I'm just glad Nick is dating someone like you. Smart and beautiful. You should've saw the last girl he brought home. She was just....awful. Her face was just plastered with make-up. What was her name?" She asked looking at ceiling in thought, "Oh yeah, Heather. She was just horrible." I bit back a smirk,

"You don't say." I said and she nodded. Then she hugged Nick,

"Don't take a whole year to visit again. It gets lonely in here. And, Brad is just horrible company. He keeps saying perverted things. His father says its a phase. But, I know it's not. He's just perverted." I laughed and Nick rolled his eyes.

When Nick's mom pulled back, I was surprised when she engulfed me in a hug. She smelled like vanilla. I hugged her back. I'm not really a hugging person but it kind of felt nice to be hugged. Kate pulled back,

"I hope I see you soon." I nodded smiling. We walked out of the door and got into Nick's car. Soon we were halfway to my house. I leaned back into the seat becoming exhausted. Soon everything was black.

Someone poked me. I groaned and swatted the hand away. But, the poking continued. Reluctantly I opened my eyes staring into a pair of bright blue ones. Nick gave me a small smile,

"Sorry to wake you up, Prank Girl. But, you have some company." I groaned but sat up anyway. We were still in Nick's car. In my drive way. I was gonna ask why we were still here when I noticed a familiar purple mini-van.

"Oh no." I murmured frowning. Right before I left California, Grant warned me they were coming. I completely forgot about them. Nick noticed my expression. He raised an eyebrow,

"What's wrong?" I quickly sat up, "Nick. I want you to hurry up and drive the heck out of here. Just drive, before anyone sees us." I said getting impatient since Nick was still here. What is he doing? This is a life or death situation.

"But-"

"Drive." I interrupted. Nick turned on the car, but it was too late. Grant walked out of the house with a smirk on his face. I groaned when he walked over to my side of the car. He tapped on the window signaling for us to roll it down. I rolled it down and he smirked at me,

"You can't escape now. You've already been spotted," I rolled my eyes, "And, if I'm going down. You're going down with me." I groaned and quickly gave Grant the puppy dog face,

"Grant please, don't make me go in there. Grandma is a horrible lady. Always bitching about the food. And, how I need to act more like a lady and stop playing around with boy toys. And, Bitchy Barbara is here? I can't deal with that demon. She's just such a..."

"Bitch?" Grant said smirking. I nodded and he shrugged, "I warned you before you left, didn't I? You were suppose to take that warning seriously. But, I'm glad you didn't. Because, I don't want to deal with them alone." I groaned and then raised an eyebrow at Grant,

"Why are they here anyway?" He looked at me as though I grew two heads,

"Why are they here? Tomorrow is thanksgiving, Emma." My eyes grew wide. Tomorrow is thanksgiving? Who forgets its thanksgiving? Well, I guess I do. I opened the door as Nick turned off the car. I turned to Nick when he got out,

"Well, prepare to have the worst day of your life." With that said We walked towards the front door.

"Worst day of my life? I'm sure it's not that serious." I didn't reply to Nick's comment. But, smirked instead. He'll see. And, the moment I opened the door I knew that the worst day of my life has just begun.
